I'd disagree. For many they've simply not been able to book trains on the official website. I've not found the markup's to be over the top either. What do you expect people to do/recommend if the main Russian rail website doesn't work?
I took the time to write a specific post about this in this same thread , even comparing the mark ups between the sites. You can look for it if interested
Well you pretty much telling me how to spend my money, i like convenience... if viagogo had a small mark up i would buy them there... its like a hotel.. some people need a bed and thats it, i want the ameneties...and i thought it was clear that there was a mark up
Has anyone had issues with booking free trains using tickets bought in this phase? I tried using the ticket request number like I did in the previous phase which worked, but this time I'm getting an error that the number doesn't pass the check
I booked a free ticket from Moscow - Nizhny Novogorod for the quarterfinals, but the problem is it's impossible to book a ticket the day before the match, only the morning of. That's a bit tight for me, I already have a hostel in Nizhny the night before and remember getting stuck on a train between Moscow and Sergiev Posad last year as the lines were down.. wouldn't want that to be the day of the game, so just booked on RussianTrain.com for the day before. Kind of annoying that they don't have trains the day before the game. I hate putting it that close.
From Saint Petersburg to Moscow the day of the Moscow semifinal? If you were in on the RZD website right when they went on sale, then you could have paid a lot less than $70 USD for the cheapest tickets on the fast trains. I paid less than $25 USD each for ours, with a meal included.
I wanted to be seated in the Bistro car, which includes approx $35 of food and drink and different from Economy+, which has a basic meal.
Ha! That sounds good, but you could have bought a lot of food and drink for the nearly $50 USD price difference!
We are also a group of 4 people so the Bistro Car had more seats with tables for us to be all seated together. But yeah, agreed. I probably could've brought a lot of vodka and sandwiches on the train with the price difference. Edit: Also this Youtube video about the Sapsan train is pretty informative if you want to see how the different carriages are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=5&v=nZSfaAqtp-Y
Well, it looks like you are supporting Brazil, so it could be a fun train ride if things go as might be expected and Brazil plays in the first semifinal and wins. I hope you did not choose a train too early in the morning the next day, but then you could just stay up all night celebrating anyway. Enjoy it!
Hi, me and three friends are looking to get an overnighttrain from Moscow to St. Petersburg after one of the matches. We are, however, uneasy with sitting in a seat all night with little sleep or rest. However, when looking at the booking site, it seems like there are "compartment carriages". Do any of you guys know how many people one compartment holds, and if they have beds or simply seats?
it's usually 4 in a carriage, bunk beds... you can get a decent nights sleep in them. Some classes even serve meals; however, you can always go to the dinner car. It's a pretty essential part of traveling through Russia - taking the overnight trains..
Don't worry, overnight trains don't have sitting options. They are all bed (bunk bed) and there are usually 3 classes. 1st class 2 bed in a closed compartment 2nd class 4 bed in a closed compartment 3rd class is 4 bed on one side and 2 bed in the other side, is an open compartment Search on google/youtube for pictures/videos and search for your tickets on https://pass.rzd.ru/main-pass/public/en/
So I am going to the Colombia vs Japan game in Saransk on 6/19 then to Rostov for the Mex- Kor game on 6/23. I am trying to squeeze the Iceland-Nigeria game on 6/22 in Volgograd, has anybody tried to book buses since this seem to be my only option at this point? how comfortable are they?
Just cancelled 2 train tickets on rzd from Moscow to Nizhny on the 20th June leaving at 22.55 if anybody is interested. Although I see there is more tickets on sale for a train leaving at 23.30 which is probably more convenient. Didn't think I'd be able to get a refund but seen somebody on here mention we could Happy days. The reason I was able to cancel is because I got a free train with the fan id. Thought I'd have to wait for it to arrive but again somebody on here informed me you just need the code they emailed with your fan id confirmation. So I managed to book a spot on the Nizhny fan train just before it sold out.
May have already been covered - however, is anyone else doing Gdansk to Kaliningrad and what are you doing for travel if so ? Going to England v Belgium from Gdansk - staying in Kaliningrad for 3 nights so many thanks in advance
it works fine for me. Just bought RZD paid ticket on their site from Moscow to Kazan for France - Australia game as all free trains all staffed. From Melbourne using Citibank Australia cc
Just received this email from the "free train people" Preliminary Place Reservation Letter Dear spectator of World Cup FIFA 2018! You have reserved tickets in additional train to World Cup FIFA 2018 and we are ready to send you boarding pass. If you don’t need your train tickets anymore we earnestly ask you to cancel your reservation in “My bookings” in your personal account so that other spectators would be able to book seats in trains. In case if you don’t cancel your reservations, the boarding pass will be sent to you. Admission to the landing of spectators of sports competitions in additional trains is carried out based on the following documents: entry ticket for the match or a document that entitles you to receive an entry ticket for the match; the identity document, which you used during booking train ticket; personalized map of the viewer (FAN ID). Kind regards, “Transport Directorate of FIFA World Cup Russia – 2018”
I also got that email. Does anyone know if they will allow you to board the train if the ticket is in someone else name? This is of course if you have a ticket and fan ID. I have a ticket that I will be canceling, so if someone else can use it, I would just give it to them at the game (or mail it if I get it soon). I would rather someone from this forum have it than spitting it back into the pool. The FAQ just states you need a ticket and fan id, doesn’t mention the transferring of tickets to someone else. Mahalo in advance
Is there any more information on this? The game is only 7 weeks away and I haven't seen any recent news about traveling between Russia and Belarus with simply a FAN ID.
I have tix for Saudi vs Egypt (June 25). I will be in Saint Petersburg before that game and need to get to Moscow by the morning of June 26. Not only are there no decent flights to Volgograd, but flights from Volgograd to Moscow for the morning of June 26 are going for around $900 USD. I can figure out a way to get to Volgograd but getting to Moscow on June 26 appears unlikely at this point unless flight prices drop. Does anyone have any solutions?
