my crew and I did complete a Skull Fort over the weekend which was entertaining and fun. No other pirates messed with us which was good because the reward was very high. at first I was in favor for PC and console being able to play together, but now not so much. I was sailing solo yesterday doing my own thing, looking for treasure, taking out skeletons. when a sloop comes along side me and starts firing cannon balls at me. I didn't have any loot or anything in value that could be stolen so I engage. Next thing I know he was firing cannon balls one after another without hesitation. I'm fairly quick in reloading a cannon, but it takes at least 5 seconds from firing, to reloading and firing again. So I'm sure he was playing on PC and using a modded ship which was very disappointing...
I picked it up on PC because I much prefer a mouse and keyboard on these kinds of games, but I can see where they made the interface with consoles in mind, so I don't think it would be too difficult to play with a controller. I'm enjoying it, but it's not quite what I was expecting. The game is closer to Tropico than it is to SimCity (which makes sense, since it turns out the developer made several of the Tropico sequals). Instead of potentially having a sprawling colony of tens of thousands you may just get by 1000. You're a little more of a micro-manager than with a SimCity game. You can tell every colonist where you want them to live and work. You can influence what perks their kids will develop when they grow up. And you don't just build a dome, you have to fill it with facilities so you can customize each dome to suit your needs. It can get slow at times; there are points where you will have your colony running smoothly but you don't have enough materials or potential colonists back on Earth to expand, so you're just kind of waiting for numbers to increase. But I like the challenge, and I like how each colonist has a name and their own quirks to give them a little personality. Oh, and the mysteries are a plus too. Before each game you can choose a mystery that will play out through your game (you can choose none if you so like). They give each game a twist to keep it interesting and different.
Spidey on PS4 gets a release date on Sept. 7th. http://comicbook.com/gaming/2018/04/04/spider-man-ps4-release-date/ I may have to get me a PS4...
I just wrapped up Far Cry 5, the story is meh and the ending is garbage, but I had quite a bit of fun in the 30 or so hours I blew on it. There's still a pretty decent amount left to do, though I probably won't do it.
Have you tried the multiplayer portion of the game? That sounds pretty cool idea with the community creating some interesting stuff.
I've got a new gaming PC, nothing spectacular mind you, just a Ryzen 5 1600, GTX 1060 6GB and 16GB RAM. Anyway I tried Far Cry 5 for which I received a code with my graphics card and it's pretty enjoyable. Just like one of these typical Hollywood flicks where you're well entertained from start to finish if you manage to turn off that little cynical voice in the back of your head which snears at the unrealistic and ridiculous parts. Now I'm back to using the new machine to replay ten year old games. Currently a couple of hours into Mass Effect I which still holds up pretty well so far.
Shenmue 1 & 2 coming to PS4 and Xbone later this year... http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/04/14/shenmue-1-and-2-being-re-released-on-ps4-xbox-one-and-pc
Spending a lot of time lately peeling through all the layers of Surviving Mars. After a couple of weeks of playing I am just beginning to feel good enough to build my first Dome with regular ease. I really find the early stages of just making the planet habitable fun in itself. I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for hype. Never really dug the God of War series but I am looking forward to the new game this Friday.
I haven't had the time or the energy to dive into the Witcher III yet. Now I have two weeks, but it's been over ten years since I played the first one and at least four years since I last touched the second one. I'm wondering if I should replay the triology from the beginning. Especially my memory of the first game is very hazy. So I should probably at least replay that one... On the other hand playing one and two would probably take two weeks alone and then I still haven't taken a single step into the third one.
Too many upcoming exclusives on PS4, to pass on it. Spidey, Death Stranding,TLOU2 etc. Not to mention the ones that are already there. GOW released this week.
Bought limited edition of God Of War. The game is unbelievably gorgeous. The new killer app and flagship title of PS4.
There are several PS4 exclusives I wanna play, the GOW series, Uncharted series, Horizon Hero Dawn...
I am very happy I didn't pass up on this God of War, it is a really fun game. After about four or five hours the game has really opened up and I'm enjoying exploring the World. At the same time I enjoy the relationship between Kratos and his son that I feel compelled to continue the main story line. Combat mechanics start out a bit slow but I am now at the point where I'm holding my own against most enemies and have a variety of ways to approach each encounter. Brok is a great NPC.
As usually I'm years too late, but I'm finally about to play Mass Effect 3. Just downloading all the mods because vanilla looks wors than modded Mass Effect 2. Let's see what the shitshow about the ending that caused such an uproar is all about.
The first 99% of the game is great. After that... I honestly do wonder if what happened with Mass Effect 3 has persuaded Valve to never release Half-Life 3. We saw how the fan base reacted with the ending of the Mass Effect trilogy. And Mass Effect isn't as big of franchise as Half-Life is. If Half-Life 3's ending was just as bad? The reaction would probably be worse.
Probably not. I don't even care about Half-Life 3. What pisses me off is that they never finished and released HL2 Episode 3 to at least ramp up the Half-Life2 story.
Probably not Read some articles that they were underway with hl3 at some point, but the development stopped because they werent really happy with it or something. And since then it never garnered any momentum to start development again. I think valve just lost the initiative and dont really care. All their focus is on steam and online mmos.
