amen bro. and also. it takes great skill and experience for one to beat the offside trap like he did to get that open. dang if he only took one more touch before shooting...
are we forgetting his assist total in the kleague right now? and also, the last time I checked all park chu young, ki and chung young were products of the kleague that did well in europe. am i wrong here again like I always am hodori?

Don't be stupid and try to pick a fight with me over nothing.

I NEVER said that the K-League did not create stars. NEVER. I guess nuanced points are lost on you. The point that was being made above (not by me), is that there are players that are "big fish in small pond" types. I.e., they flatter in the K-League and the J-League, but do not have the requisite skills and/or mental strength to succeed on the biggest stage.

As for beating the offsides trap and getting a clean shot at goal, THAT is a striker's JOB... That's not wholly dictated by experience. Any good, young striker should be able to make that run. Last time I checked, Chicharito was doing that throughout the world cup and SCORING. If you think otherwise, sod off. You're just making pathetic excuses for a pathetic footballer who bottled it when it mattered most.

I'm not just looking at his goals. I mean his overall play throughout a 90 minute game. Also, I didn't mean that he was a world class passer or anything, but was speaking about lee relative to JDW. JDW actually played a lot of wayward passes in the ghana friendly for example. That was overlooked though because he did have a goal and and assist and was the difference in the game. But don't get me wrong, I certainly like JDW as a player too.

I can't seem to find the stats. Please provide us with JDW's pass completion rate for that match. Thanks.

I wouldn't know where to find those stats either. I guess "a lot of wayward passes" could be an exaggeration now that i think about it, but I remember at least a couple of bad ones, especially in the second half.

I think the KFA has a lot of those stats. The Asian Cup was great for stat junkies like me b/c the AFC did a really good job publishing a ton of stats after each match. FIFA does an ok job after each WC match as well.

I'll try to look it up on the KFA site when I get home. I can't read Korean on my work computer and it takes forever w/ my phone. But I'm just curious to see what the stats were for the Ghana match in general.

dude hodori. you are fricking ridiculous!
first of all. i am referring to the current striker situation of Korea NT. why are you bringing up chicharito? if that's the case of course your example would work to prove me wrong once again. dude. seriously man calm down. why is everything that I say to you so offending? just take a effin chill pill and take it ez man. geez, all i am doing right now is sporting my favorite player on this thread. go and find your frickin stats

and also. YOUR logic is off on your effin last post. you said that ANY good young striker can use the offside trap to get open like that. i think that is an overstatement as it does have a lot to do with experience and learning how to position yourself like that. And come on man. he has contributed a lot during the 2006 campaign. he just needs one more chance that's all

LDG as of right now isn't going to beat out PCY, SHM, and JDY for a spot. and the 4th spot will be taken by either Jung jo gook, Wooky, or maybe lee jong ho and suk. sorry to ruin it for you.

Look who's got his panties in a knot. You're the one ranting and raving here. All I did was merely refute your unfounded claims. Instead of telling you to f**k off, let me show you how my last post was not ridiculous as you claim. Pay attention now.

    You claimed the following:
So in your imaginary world, beating the offside trap like LDG did against Uruguay requires both (a) skill AND (b) experience.

I wanted to illustrate the point that experience is not a prerequisite for pulling off that move as you so claim. Instead of engaging in counter-factual analysis using current KNT players like SHM and JDW who were not in South Africa, I instead refuted your point by pointing out the accomplishments of Chicharito who was a young, inexperienced striker in the tournament who repeatedly broke the offsides trap and scored goals.

Again, I stand by my earlier point; it is not ridiculous as you so claim. Any good, young striker who's been properly trained should be able to make that run off the shoulder of the defenders AND (most importantly) score that goal.

Experience helps to compensate for less talented strikers. Too bad LDG's experience still let him down as he failed to score. Talented, well trained strikers can (1) get into that position and (2) score. Just look at the debut goal that Son HM scored last season. He breaks the offsides trap and scored.

Countless others from a teenage Michael Owen at Liverpool to Podolski to Mueller to Chicharito to El Nino have done so at big tournaments in recent times. It is what it is. They performed despite not being as experienced as LDG.

Anyway, your whole point is moot. Despite LDG's experience, it did eff all for him. Who cares if he got in position for a shot? Again, he failed to score. We're sadly discussing an act of futility and vanity.

LDG sucks and is bad for Korean football. I would've given him 69 rating on FIFA.

Fifa gave his best rating [since leaving middlesbrough] a rating of 78. his volleys were 91 and his finishing was 85.

He is talented... in K-League and Asia. The reason I don't like him is because he wasted his talent with his pathetic self-entitled attitude. He thought he was the shizz and when he faced adversity and challenge, he proved his lack of mettle and pea sized cojones. Total opposite to PJS.
