We're just not used to facing this quality. You make the smallest of mistakes and they pounce on them.
I don't think there's much debate between Ramos and Pique. Ramos is probably the best CB for several seasons now.
I would have been fine with 3-1 all things considered. That fourth goal made me furious...such a stupid decision by Gonalons. Bad luck and preventable mistakes ....man.
That fourth was quite the kick in the pants. 3-1 there's a shred of hope you can luck into 2-0. You don't luck into 3-0.
2 own goals and the other 2 goals could have been avoided. However when you sit back against them you're playing with fire. I honestly did think we would be a bit braver and be more aggressive with them, hence my 2-2 prediction. I just think its the safest bet to make a game of it versus sitting back too much because its inevitable that pressure with so many bodies back lead to mistakes. You struggle to get going up the pitch and you never make Barca fear you in general play even if we had a few chances here and there. Learning curve though, we obviously all hope to start seeing Roma at this stage on the regular and gain that experience and confidence to go out in these games with that braver attitude.
We made mistakes but I don't think we deserved 4-1, even 3-1 would have been harsh given the over all performance.
We all knew that we needed all the luck on our side today but the opposite happened. We were never going to overcome losing 2 of our best players just before the match, then concede 2 own goals and miss most of our chances. The main take away from this match for me is that our midfield is so thin. We sold Paredes and replaced him with garbage, both Gonalons and Pellegrini are turnover machines and can't play at this level. Pellegrini may or may not become better, but we need to focus our attention on the midfield this summer.
Does anybody here realise that if you're kicking the ball into your own net (twice) that it is bad defending, not bad luck?
But then it's also a penalty on Messi from manolas, which I think that one was worse . We played better than I expected, unlucky and overmatched .
Well said. Far too much kicking the ball away aimlessly out of a simple fear of making a mistake. No bravery. By all means get men behind the ball away to Barcelona but when you won it back you try play with it. Be brave, not fearing for your life of making an error, of which this performance stank of. In the end what happens? We make a plethora of errors anyway. Defend with purpose and attack with purpose, otherwise go home. Barcelona cantered to a 4-1 win here, barely breaking sweat and people here think we were a bit unlucky and played ok. It really is a strange mentality.
What arrogance? Saying the first half wasn’t pathetic and not ripping on De Rossi? Look up the word “arrogant”, read everything I’ve written , then read everything you’ve written , and tell me to “take heed” again.
