We play Toronto this week, they have a CCL game the following Tuesday so we may get lucky with them sitting their stars, if not my hopes are low. Toronto FC v Real Salt Lake BMO Field (8PM ET) REF: ALLEN CHAPMAN AR1: MATTHEW NELSON AR2: JOE FLETCHER 4TH: NIMA SAGHAFI VAR: GEOFF GAMBLE
When I think of away games with TFC I think of weird things playing out. I can't remember the year, but we had the whole stoppage time fiasco. This was in the days that they showed how much stoppage time had passed in the stadium. What the ref had announced would be the minimum and what had been played were different. The problem wasn't the ref, though, it was the in stadium clock. I also remember Plata tearing us a new one when he was with them. Maybe he can return the favor. I'm not holding my breath, though. We have roughly 5468721 injuries and even the depth on TFC ain't all that bad. I expect them to have a mixed bag lineup and still kick our trash and finally get the "see! They're good in MLS too!" result they've needed to justify people hyping them still
Who is in the lineup? I honestly don't even know who is healthy enough to play. This team has an uncanny ability of picking up injuries early that are confusing and troublesome in how much they derail the progress of the team. If I had to guess, this would be the 18: Ortuno Bofo Rusnak Savarino Dami KB Phillips Horst Glad Henley Nicky Bench: Horwath, Acosta, Barry, Luke, Sunny, Baird, Lennon I don't know if Plata made the trip, if he did he probably replaces Baird on the 18 which is dumb but I'm not sure who else you take out. Same thing with LSilva and MSilva. They would be on the bench. I'm guessing Henley gets the go at RB after playing there with the Monarchs last week.
Anyone know how Henley did with the Monarchs last week? I didn't really follow it at all, but I have been interested in how he will play with RSL.
soapbox has a piece on one of the Monarchs goals that gives a good review of him, at least on that play
I will watch this game, but much like last nights Jazz game (cry), I don't look forward to a positive result.
I don't think we would have read this statement a few years ago. MLS has definitely found a new approached to the CCL lately.
Rimando Lennon, Silva, Glad, Phillips Beckerman, Kreilach; Savarino, Rusnak, Plata Luis Silva Is my guess. Betting that Phillips starts based on what is going around about Acosta. Still trying to figure out how bad the blow up with him was to merit his not even getting a sniff at the bench at this point.
If anyone is looking for a watch party, the Buffalo Wild Wings off Fort Union is showing the game and donating some of the tab to a local Sparta team to travel to a competition.
The backs are having a devil of a time getting the ball to midfield. The Toronto pressure is relentless and it’s working.
I don't even think you can blame the two PK calls. RSL has let Toronto have way too much dangerous possession.
