So I listened into the new Kate Nash stuff and lol 10 seconds into the first song Im like "thats Leslie Clio!" lol
Any shoegaze fans here? I'm in Chicago band, Airiel, and am 20 year long Fire fan(sniff). We released an album at the tail end of 2017. I play bass on the album. I can be found at about half of the home games.
She's doing some very different things in this album, but it's actually good. Much more fully formed than Girl Talk and so much better.
What am I listening to at the moment? Sitting in a nearly empty bar, drinking Newcastle and Boddingtons, listening to the entire album of Closer by Joy Division. That is "Good Friday"
And now we have moved to The Effigies, the best Chicago band ever. Listening to their version of No Love Lost by Joy Division.
Yeah, the sound is also less alternative pop-y and more mainstream-y, or at least cut smooth according to how pop has become more electronic in the past 10 years. "Hate you" could be from Leslie Clio's most recent album.
This is good. Thanks you. Ahhhh, to be young again, to be thin again, to have hair again, and to have talent and dreams again. . .
I really like these, especially "Life in Pink." Thanks Jiggs. She remains quirky, real and surreal all at the same time.
Kate Nash reminds me of Garbage in their prime. I can hear the influence in all aspects of that song from vocals to production.
More covers, well the entire album actually. Better than the original IMHO (I blame Bob Rock and his over-production and nasty snare drum).
Every once in a while I have to correct and remind myself that we’re all wrong. If you’ve never heard this album from 1959 you are at a disadvantage: John Fahey The Legend of Blind Joe Death https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9FBA92F0F66E570B
Anything from a user that calls himself St. Louis Blues isn't to be trusted. That said, I'm going to sit back and listen.
Nevermind it's a song about St. Louis which makes it even worse... I hate the town except for two good restaurants.
@Jiggly_333 put your album on YouTube. Bandcamp is niche. I think you'll get more exposure too, even if the ad revenue isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Easter is important to many people. Here is a gem for all. Annie Haslam's voice is a thing of wonder. A 5-octave range worthy of a 3-minute listen.
I've heard that sung so many times when I was young but her range is remarkable, almost breathtaking. Thanks for sharing.
