That's a positive. After some backing and forthing with Booking.com, I had a hotel in Rostov changed over to one down the road, same standard, and good ratings and the same price.
Just noticed my booking at Smile Hostel in Nizhny canceled sometime in the last few weeks without any notice. I emailed them to ask what happened and they told me I could rebook for $100 a night, in a 16 bed dorm.
In case that someone is looking for a Single Room in Niznhy Novgorod on June 21st (ARG-CRO), here is one room left at 9700 Rubles (not as bad as other places) http://otel-profsoyuznaya.ru/booking?date=2018-06-21&nights=1&adults=2&children=0&children-age=
@Nick Kharchenko (or any of the other russian friends), could you help us by writing a template so that we can write emails directly to the hotels and see if we have better luck than thru sites like Booking? . I tried using the google translator but I dont know if what is written in russian really makes sense. Something like "Hello. I would like to ask you if you have any available room for 2 guest for the night of June 21. Thanks" would translate into: "Здравствуйте. Я хотел бы спросить вас, есть ли у вас в наличии номер для 2 гостей на ночь 21 июня. благодаря Does it makes sense?
Edited. But I you sure that you want to stay in a hotel that is not capable to reply your email in basic English? Здравствуйте. Я хотел бы уточнить, есть ли у вас свободный номер для 2 гостей на 21 июня? Заранее благодарю за ответ.
Thanks Nick! In other circumstances I would agree with you but right now the options to book a hotel in some cities is narrowing so we can use every resource available!
I booked this hostel at ROSTOV on 16-18 JUN 2018 I asked the visa registration , He said " This is an application form that according to the law every foreigner should fill in every time he changes the address of residence, however as I have consulted with the office in reality all you need is just your Fan ID. So if you don't bother filling in all those papers you will not have any problems, Do you get it? Anyway I will keep asking and gathering information about it from various sources and I will keep you and our other guests informed about the immigration rules. Please keep in touch." I already paied the money to this hostel and I like this hostel because not expensive for me. From this message this hostel has risk for not register visa to me ? and what should I do ? Regards
From those with experience of previous tournaments is there usually an influx of hotel rooms available the last few weeks before the tournament starts as those who have double triple, quadruple etc booked start to cancel the reservatione they don't intend on using?
I don't think for this reason but more the reason that clearly many hotels have been block booked either by organizations or Travel firms. I have been surprised still so many say fully booked and it could well be late in the day when they become available which will no doubt be too late for fans and hopefully the hotels as well.
I don't think previous World Cups is going to be much of indicator for the current Russia situation as there are too many differences and variables that we don't know. From the outset it seemed rooms were scarcer and more expensive in Russia, particularly Moscow and some of the smaller cities. This great flood of rooms that we were all hoping for hasn't happened. I have 3 nights left unbooked that I still have to book and I've been looking daily and haven't seen that much change. I still have options though so I'll continue to wait.
I am confused about this mandatory registration thingie. I am taking a train from Beijing to Moscow and then going to Sochi, St. Petersburg and back to Moscow. What do I need to do when I get to Siberia?
Into account. From 1 April airbnb is revising the title of superhost. Look for an apartment with good owners.
It is interesting that Booking.com have changed their tune and list all hotels in Moscow saying not available right now rather all sold out which to my naive mind suggests that they are expecting rooms to become available as they damn well should be...(3-5 stars that is.)
An AirBnB Superhost in Moscow is giving my buddy a hard time. The host wants to charge him $80 to register, which is complete crap. Looks like he is trying to force my friend to cancel so he can then up the price on the listing. My friend will contact AirBnB to see what they can do.
Back in November, I had made a reservation on booking.com for a hotel in Samara from 5-8 July. The following day it was canceled by the hotel claiming that they were going to be closed at that time. I thought nothing more about it until today when I received another email from the same hotel claiming that my reservation for 2-3 July had been canceled for the same reason. This was a surprise because I had never had a reservation with them for that night. You will not be surprised to learn that they are still accepting reservations for dates when Samara is not hosting World Cup matches. So I called booking.com and the woman I spoke with was as offended by the hotel's behavior as any of us would be. She promised to report it to her boss and to report back to me later. I guess the lesson is that if a hotel does cancel on you, make sure you complain to the site where you booked it.
if you made a booking at booking.com and no credit card was ever provided (it wasn't possible or done so fast when availability popped up it was missed) but booking.com confirmed the booking subsequently. should I be worried about it if no further email is sent on any cancellation?
1 - forget about Visa register... it's not related to your visa or FanID at all. You inform local authorities about your location, that's the idea. Russians should do the same but with less strict time frames. 2 - A normal hostel has to register all their incoming tourists upon their arrival. 3 - All that registration story is awkward there will be thousands of fans that will ignore that. So we can't be sure if anyone will be checking that at all.
