Terrible first half, we don't know what to do with the ball. Long balls after long balls. Lletget is doing OK but has lost a lot in the physical part of his game, Kitchen is our best player. I don't know if he's injured but Gio is a total non-factor at this point.
Our bench is underwhelming as well. No game changers to bring on for Gio. Two mediocre non-attacking midfield players in Husidic and Carrasco, a raw forward in Ari and then a career USL right back in Klimenta and Romney. Maybe just bring in Ari and go to a more traditional 4-4-2.
We play ok except when we have the ball at their end. Then we push up too far and leave ourself wide open to counterattacks (which NY is famous for). The first goal started with JDS turning over the ball in their final 3rd then instead of fouling to prevent a counter he went for a tackle he missed and took himself out of the play. We had a couple chances to strategically foul and stop that counter but we didn’t. Best thing for us is Ciani out. His poor clearance was a big culprit on one the goals. Now Gio out also so maybe we have a chance!
