I’ve had season tickets from day 1 but I’m constantly getting contacted with stuff like this, even after I tell them every time that I’m a season ticket holder. Nobody ever flags me I guess... If you ever buy additional single game tickets you get put into that one time buyer Database forever I guess.
There's nobody currently in the Ticket Sales department named Nick. See https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/club/ownership-front-office And what's with the 215 phone number? When the Union call me it's always from a 610 number.
Apart from the hilarious Mad Libs aspect, what irks me is the disingenuousness of it. "Although we like your season ticket revenue, we'd really also like you to come and spend lots more on merchandise and overpriced food and drink" Sales callers now routinely show on caller id the same area code as the numbers they are calling, to increase the chance of a pickup. It may just be that your number is a 215.
I've have noticed this phenomenon too, and it's really annoying. I've gotten to the point that I let everything got to voicemail unless I recognize the caller.
Not only area code, but same 3-digit prefix as my cell number, too. Hell, one time my own number appeared. I didn't think I was calling myself though.
Wasn't there a league-wide sales office Minnesota or something? Maybe teams sent sales reps there for training...
Now that I’ve seen the new primary kit in a game, I have to say that I’m disappointed that the club opted to make the dramatic change to the jersey, getting rid of the defining center stripe. It did not have the Union identity; in fact it really had no identity at all—just like the all-white secondary kit. It’s a shame.
The funny thing about it is that whenever I see my prefix I instantly know not to pick up. It’s totally counterproductive.
There is. It’s also the national intern training center. The Union literally get unpaid interns to move here for ticket sales. After a year of sleeping in their cubes and subsisting on ramen and leftovers on game day in the club, they move on. It’s why you get a new rep every year.
This was the answer. The call was coming from the MN sales office but spoofing that it was from Philly. My number is in the database because I entered my phone number in order to have tickets transferred to me last season. My rep claims that my name has been removed from the list.
I feel bad for Darryl. Every year he packs up his cube and gets excited to finally move on, only for someone to say “Not you, Darryl. You’ve got potential. Here’s an extra ramen pack.”
Evidently we have a new minority owner. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports...bovitch-richie-graham-20180316.html?mobi=true
Sugarman has put more money in the pot for the senior team, backing up his offseason promise to give sporting director Earnie Stewart “significantly more resources” to work with “than he’s ever had. Sugarman said the Union bought the full available allotment of funds from Major League Soccer’s discretionary targeted allocation money pool. Those funds are essentially extra salary-cap space that teams can purchase to buy down big-ticket players’ cap hits. Teams can buy up to $2.8 million this year and $2.8 million next year. “Ownership gave [the front office] the full amount to play with,” Sugarman said “They have proven to us that this is a year when spending it should have a sizable payoff, and I think all parts of the team were ready to bring in the kind of talent you’ve seen us bring in.”
I know that JT is one of the few fighting the good fight as it pertains to soccer coverage in this area, but I don't think he got this right. I do not believe that a team has to "[buy] the full available allotment of funds from Major League Soccer’s discretionary targeted allocation money pool" in advance. I believe that the discretionary TAM is purchased with cash at the time of signing. In other words, when Dockal was signed, the Union had the ability to pay the league cash for discretionary TAM to buy down his cap hit. I think that Sugarman said or meant to say that he has given full authority to Earnie to use discretionary TAM if the right opportunity arises, not that the team has actually paid $5.6M in cash.
So you're telling me Jay bragging about spending more this year is..... Bullshit? You're also telling me that Earnie isn't utilizing all of the resources he has availble and only managed to acquire 2 players this offseason even though he had a ton of cap space and 2.5 million extra to play with? I LOVE THIS TEAM!
I was thrilled for a few seconds. I read that and at first I thought it said that some guy just bought a majority stake in the club. No more Sugardaddy, I thought? !!! No...just a guy buying the majority of one of the minority holder's shares. Whomp-whomp.
Majority owner Jay Sugarman told the Inquirer and Daily News that Leibovitch purchased a part of the stake owned by another owner in the team who wanted to reduce his investment. Sugarman would not name the selling owner, saying he has been an investor in the team from the start who has been anonymous all along and “was just a capital provider. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Anonymous. Does this mean he loses his personal locker?
I thoroughly hate the group they have running their social media accounts...the majority of their tweets are pathetic and embarrassing.
