On the contrary, it is widely expected Löw(or whoever is coach) will use this for trying out the second line much like during last year's Confed Cup.

How exactly does Infantino profit if there's a loan out limit or a salary ceiling??

When the Dutch have black in their uniform color scheme, they have made it at least to the semi finals.

The black uniforms in 2012 were bad ass, but we all know how well that tournament went

  10. Well, one thing is clear from the pre selection.
Koeman wants defenders with the capacity to attack. Players with only pure defensive qualities are on the way out.

Get rid of Bosman immediately. It should be outlawed all over Europe and SA, but perhaps you should lead the way. It has crippled the production of world class players in smaller countries like Holland and small budget countries like Brazil.

They can't, because it violates EU labour laws.

At least I think it does, maybe O14 can shed some light on this.

P.S. I f__cking HATE this Bosman guy. Rumor has it he's now an alcoholic and spends his days as a hermit because half the planet hates him. Good!!!!!!!!!!

You cannot get rid of Bosman. BD is correct about EU labor laws. Television money is the book issue. EPL teams get almost as much tv money as the entire Ajax operating budget. UEFA of not interested in doing anything that would piss off the top clubs for fear that they would split off and form a super league. Actually that might be the best thing to happen. The other Euro teams could then form a good competition.

I find CL football to be quite boring and predictable (though it was wonderful to see ManU and that toad Mourinho go out tonight).

I'm really looking forward to the game against England and Koeman's first. It'll be telling about how he wants to play. I'd like to see something like this:

    Cillessen
Janmaat - de Vrij - van Dijk - van Aanholt
    Blind*
    Wijnaldum - Strootman
    Promes - Memphis - Kluivert

    Just IMO.

Could have Vilhena or Fosu-Mensah where Blind is, IMO. But we need someone there who can be a stable defensive presence and give Gini/Strootman a bit less responsibility defensively.

  16. With these wingers I would go for Bassie!!

    I saw this on Twitter...

    Summary of Koeman's press conference:
-Wants Netherlands to play in several formations
-Will decide new captain. Van Dijk a possibility.
-RVP not done in Oranje, Sneijder and Robben are.
    -Wants more from Memphis
-Picked Kluivert over Bergwijn because he is more of a winger.

    My take:
    - Looks like he's pulling a trick from Van Gaal's book.. I like it, as long as the consistent result is there (e.g. Van Marwijk's team).
    - Van Dijk is a great option as he may be the only with the safe job (somewhat irreplaceable). Maybe De Vrij is another good candidate. Certainly not the old timers like Strootman or Blind, whose roles are no longer guaranteed.
    - Interesting, and sad... surely highlights the obvious lack of option upfront.
    - Memphis gets a fresh start... seemed to embrace a brand new page at Lyon, so there's hope he can turn it around under Koeman as well.
    - I think both Kluivert and Bergwijn should be in. Get rid of Babel or Dost.

Promes or Memphis maybe? Both can play the role. I still think it's the role Memphis would be best suited to.

Promes - Memphis - Kluivert could be a nice front 3 for now.

Koeman used a 4-2-3-1 at Southampton, and more recently he played mostly with a 3 at the back system in Everton. It'll be hard to guess how he'll set up. I wouldn't mind seeing something like what we had at the WC if he does decide to go 3 at the back. Having Memphis and Promes in free roles up front to focus the offence on.

    Van Dijk named captain.

No more 4-3-3 according to Koeman.

I'd guess some variations of 3-5-2/5-3-2 with a flat back three (Van Dijk, De Vrij and De Ligt) and two high-flying wing backs (Tete and Van Aanholt?)

In midfield I hope Van De Beek is the first to be penciled in, with Wijnaldum and Strootman are strong possibilities, at least for now.

Two strikers upfront: Memphis and Promes.

Excellent decision. We have a very storing defense now, so Koeman should take advantage of that and play ultra-defensively and just hit teams on the counter-attack.

I personally like the 5-3-2 the best. Or perhaps a 5-4-1 with a lone striker up front, 2 holding midfielders and 2 wingers

Is tomorrow's game being broadcasted in the US? I checked ESPN, Fox, and Bein Sports' schedules and none of them seem to broadcast the match.

I looked at the same usual suspects and didn't see anything listed either. Pretty strange as this is one of the more high profile friendlies being played. Looks like we have to find a good Internet stream!

I love the idea of the 3-5-2. One of my favourite formations and it may play to our strengths, especially since we have at least two very good distributors of the ball from CB.

The thing is why would he mention bringing Kluivert in as more of a winger if we're not going to be playing with wingers? This is why I wouldn't be surprised to see the 4-2-3-1 or even the 4-4-2.

Ideally if we're playing 3 at the back though maybe we could see this:

de Ligt - de Vrij - van Dijk
Janmaat ----- Vilhena ----- van Aanholt
    Wijnaldum - Strootman
    Promes - Memphis
