Most MLS teams playing 4-6 games, but not sure what their pattern was in previous years, but for RSL this is clearly a departure. Red Bulls playing 4 games in Tucson. I'm sure RSL could have done so if they had chosen to. MLS teams (including RSL) have been playing CCL games in late Feb for years, so I'm not sure how that is suddenly a factor. Maybe it's been a bit of an abnormality that RSL has consistently played 6 or more preseason games since 2007, but something has clearly changed in the approach. I'm not insinuating that's a bad thing, just different. Would be interested in hearing the thought process behind it. Maybe the rainy preseason last year precipitated this change. After all, we know that was the reason for the poor start to the season a year ago

Wonder how we'll know the schedule. It would also be nice if it were video on demand as well as live.
would be dumb not to keep all the videos on an archive that the viewer could access at whatever time they desire
Right now just expect every single game to be available through the OTT app and on ksl.com for streaming. There will be a lot coming down the pipeline with this as it's still very new -- the ticketing page launched last Thursday and there are still 2 pieces to that to come. The content pages are still in being developed but the effort there is focused on making it a hub for all the RSL news/content you could ever want/need/dream of. Games. Arsenal TV style fan content. Podcasts. Match reports. Over-reactions. Lots of written stuff. AND MORE. (^marketing would be very disappointed with that bit.) Now that I can talk about it I'll keep as many people in the loop as I can.
Is everything unavailable out of market or just the RSL games? The reasoning I've seen (MLS rules on broadcasting) so far only applies to game streams. Shouldn't the stuff in bwetween and potentially the Monarchs/Royals/Academy stuff be available essentially globally?
I just downloaded the KSL TV app on my Roku TV. Is that where content will be streamed? I'm super excited about this, to be honest.
So, I've been out of state until recently, and watched all games through MLS Live. Now that I'm in-market, do I need the MLS Live Subscription? I don't have cable, but it looks like home games are available on local stations and streaming. Are away games also going to be streamed?
I'll have to see if I can location spoof to get around the geoblock. I did this for the FC Dallas games that they streamed last year.
From the article, it looks like all non-nationally broadcast games will be streamed by KSL. They've also been broadcast by KMYU. I'm debating giving up my MLS Live subscription, but waiting to see if the KSL option will have archived games. Do you know, @SALTLAKEJAKE?
Yes. Working on figuring out the what's happening with the games but that's an MLS rights issue that will likely impact things similarly to how it was on MLS live. That said, VPNs are a thing.
...although I wouldn't count on them. The geo-fencing tech being used in the app leverages a fairly comprehensive anonymous IP database.
Welp. Looks like MLS Live is no more. Today has been a real roller-coaster. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...e-is-said-to-gain-exclusive-pro-soccer-rights
I also have YouTubeTV. I assume to watch the RSL games, you'll have to go through either the KSL app, or through their website. If they were broadcast over the main KSL channel, then I'd say just having YouTubeTV would be fine. All that being said, this news excites me, since it means not having to have another subscription to watch RSL games. I plan on watching most games live, but if we also get VOD to watch later on, this whole service will be fantastic.
This is a win Still the change will be a bargain for soccer fans. The MLS Live service was priced at $79 a year, while the new ESPN streaming product will be $5 a month, or $60 annually. In addition to the soccer games, ESPN+ subscribers will get access to thousands of other live events a year, including pro baseball, hockey and tennis, as well as college sports. ESPN+ will debut this spring, likely after the March 3 start of the soccer season, so matches will be available for free on MLSsoccer.com until the new service is available, according to one of the people.
I can get behind ESPN+ With the KSL streaming, odds are I won't need it, but here and there for $5 per month isn't bad at all. I wonder if at some point it might become an addon to some of the streaming services out there at a small discount.
