And now we're going after 31-year old striker Billy Sharp from Sheffield United: http://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-t...-eyeing-sheffield-uniteds-billy-sharp-sources I swear that we are trying to put together a team of players with names from a 1960 English side. Billy Sharp, Jack Price, Danny Wilson, Tommy Smith, Jack McBean...
He scored 30 goals to help them into the Championship and has 8 in 20 games in the Championship. Doesn’t sound terrible and he is actually a striker.
That would be a fantastic signing if true make no mistake! I don't care about age......he scores goals and has done wherever he has been
Article eludes to some pessimism about CO actually being able to sign Sharp. At this point I'm kinda resigned to non-excitement until a striker is actually signed.
Based on these highlights he'd immediately become our most calm, clinical finisher. The article sited above doesn't sound too promising to me, though. I read it as the Rapids have reached out and Sheffield isn't really interested in letting him go.
It's not always about the club. Rangers and Ipswich weren't keen on leaving. If Sharp says he wants to move for him and his family then it might change things
Duuuuudes........His last name is Sharp. Perfect name for a striker. That should be a prerequisite; all strikers should be Sharp. Seriously, Sharp has scored goals at every level in English football. His track record is proven. Sharp just turned 32 this week. You'd never know it. The handful of times I've seen him play, he's one of those - as the English say - that "loves to get stuck in". Stocky litte fella that will sacrifice whatever it takes to score. Gritty. Hardnosed. Effective. That's Sharp. Four or five years ago, Celtic looked to pry him away from Southampton as a replacement for Gary Hooper. Many of the Parkhead faithful were upset that transfer failed to happened. If Sheffield United will let Sharp go, I think he would be a viable option for us.
I have stopped caring about age for this year, we just need a CF that can deposit a bunch of balls into the back of the net.
Interesting rumor. The fact that new rumors keep popping up kind of casts a shadow on those comments from the FO and insiders than a new attacking signing will happen soon. If we were close we probably wouldn't be chasing down new options.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/footb...on-phoenix-future-murky-after-late-withdrawal Further confirmation that Wellington said no to Krishna leaving for Colorado. Interestingly, it sounds like he was really disappointed by the situation and wanted to come here.
Kit looked fine. Nice and traditional. I'm not a kit wearer, so not really opinionated about it. Wear t-shirts, scarves, hats, etc...
So interesting tid bit. The game today was going to be streamed live but the rapids at the last minute said no.............i can only imagine this is to stop any other teams getting a sneak peak as to how we will set up. Smart move if true
LOL, no. This is almost certainly a cost/effort thing, not a anti-scouting thing, considering they'll be playing a bunch of games in AZ with other MLS teams next week.
"Danny to Tommy... Tommy finds Jack... Jack with a through-ball to Billy... Billy scores with an absolute peach!" 1960 London? Or 2018 Commerce City? We'll soon see.
5 of the goals involved players signed since and including Aigner. Aigner Mcbean Price Blomberg Castillo Jackson
Exactly what you want even if it's inferior competition such as Sporting AZFC. sigh.......with a CONCACAF CL fast approaching we need better competition. Period.
