I don't know if LMX needs FMF permission, but both are quite interested in maintaining and increasing their American presence.
And that induces decisions that are adverse to the objective interests of the national game? Geez, imagine that
http://www.espn.com/soccer/major-le...ga-mx-planning-annual-champions-match-sources "The Post reported that the game would likely be held at BMO Field, home of current MLS champions Toronto FC."
Clausura champ vs MLS Cup Champ Aperture champ vs Supporters Shield winner. Twice the games. Twice the money. I expect my commission check from Liga MX and MLS is already in the mail ....
a. Apetura vs. Clausura b. MLS vs. USL Winner a vs. winner b Makes D2 clubs feel included, Please don't hurt my feelings.
I would likely watch out of curiosity. However, I would never want the Sounders involved in a game like this during the season. Trophies not friendlies. Unneeded fixture congestion that can negatively effect the season during the final push into the playoffs? No thank you.
This is soccer, where everything leads to qualifying for something else. Why limit yourself to caring only about MLS?
Whenever I see an incorrectly formed argument, I just have to jump in. Nothing pisses me off more than people being wrong.
Please inform me how my argument is wrong and/or incorrectly formed. You haven't provided any kind of rebuttal. Except an incorrect one.
2016 - 2nd in Western Conference 2017 - 2nd to last in Western Conference 2018 - shouldn't it reverse again?
It's not just about the money from a one-off game. It's like @AndyMead said, this is part of a long game. FMF sees large growth potential in the US. It's a big reason why they've been uninterested in returning to Libertadores, because there's more money to be had focusing on the US market. Liga MX offers a better product than MLS with more accessible time slots than European leagues. So the goal is to keep US viewers familiar enough with LMX teams that they choose the better option. Last year LMX broadcast games in English on Facebook but Univision put a stop to it because they said it violated their contract. That's why these games, Superliga, etc. are only in the US, because LMX already has Mexico locked down. Both leagues are using each other to go after soccer fans in the US.
So how exactly does this make it not about money? You are saying it is about making more money from the US market.
He was giving an opinion. So now you tell people when their opinions are "wrong." I bet you are super fun guy to hang around.
