I mean.....I said we were getting a 19 yr old CDM who was from Argentina but playing in Chile a while ago...sooooo.
Waibel was interviewed during On Frame on Monday. He said the team is still going after several players. I'm assuming this kid is one of those players.
Context from Stejskal. He says, - Ruiz done. - Duenas isn't happening. - Still pursuing a high impact B2B mid to push Ruiz and Mulholland.
I really like the upside on this Ruiz kid. Obviously Duenas would have been a massive signing, but I'm guessing the transfer fee and salary would have made Yura look cheap. He doesn't have the name appeal of a Mexican superstar so he wouldn't be a huge marketing win like a Chich or even a Herrera (that would be an amazing signing)
My guess is we view Sunny as primarily competing with Beckerman as a defensive mid, and not a true box to box guy.
eh, I get that, but it's not true. Sunny and KB were the starters when Sunny was healthy. I get always wanting a box to box guy out there, but I'll take the talent of Sunny (when on) over fitting the piece in like Luke
The Ruiz deal is official. I saw a billboard about it on my way in to work this morning and didn't recognize the kid at first. https://www.rsl.com/post/2018/02/02/real-salt-lake-signs-19-year-old-midfielder-pablo-ruiz
Reading about Danny's early life, maybe this sheds some light on why he's never been super intimidated in his career. Growing up around murderous gangsters must make Clint Dempsey not seem so scary.
oh for sure. I'm buddies with guys from the same area of Honduras (I think I told the story on here of playing with Danny about a month or so ago with these guys). They just laugh it off when games get heated. Granted, we're talking dumb men's league games that someone always takes way more seriously than they should. That said, one of them is what I would consider one of my best friends. His approach to life, his worries, his stress... it's really cool to have his perspective.
With Ruiz the roster is at 28*/30* (and likely set for the start of the season) now, isn't? GK (3): Rimando, Sparrow, Horwath LB (2): Acosta, Phillips CB (5): Glad, MSilva, Horst, Barry, Peay RB (3): Beltran, Herrera, Henley CM (5): Beckerman, Mulholland, Sunny, Ruiz, Besler LW (2): Plata, Bofo AM (3): Rusnak, Hernandez, Baird RW (3): Savarino, Lennon, Allen FW (4): Ortuno, LSilva, Lopez-Espin*, Movsisyan*
Also, I'm counting 20 players who are probably on the senior roster (we won't know definitively for a bit), so any additional signings would probably have to be Monarchs/Academy signings unless someone is moved. This makes me think that our top-flight #8 that Waibel has talked up may be contingent on a resolution with Yura.
Just when I think I'm not going to get RSL season tix again this year, the club has to go make some good signings and it sucks me right back in.
I've resisted so far. It was nice to be able to always go, but it'll also be nice to have that extra cash and time available for once in a long while.
Bomma tweeted 2 flags and then deleted the tweet. Germany and Croatia. I tried looking on transfermarkt but I didn't recognize any of the names. My guess is a Croatian playing in Germany, but he could be a guy with duel nationality. Or 1 player from Germany 1 from Croatia. Who knows when Bomma tweets. I also don't know if what Sam Stejskal wrote, Bommas tweeted and what Jake said on his podcast are related.
