I feel like Stoger doesn't play a style that benefits CP. CP has been pretty good this game but he just doesn't get chances to run at players from midfield like he used to. Its very slow and the team sets up a lot deeper.

Very poor attacking movement from BVB.

Agreed that Dortmund is playing a conservative road style, and it shows in their lack of opportunities. Hertha doing well to try to limit opportunities in space for Sancho or Pulisic. In theory, Gotze/Weigl/Kagawa should be dominating the midfield battle, especially as Pulisic and Sancho are taking on most of the wide backtracking defensive responsibilities. But they're just not. Hertha played extremely deep for about 10 minutes, but other than that, they've held Dortmund even.

Fortunately it's served by the liter here in the stadium. This game needs it. 20180119_212414.jpg

They are playing too deep. Normally the high press allows them to turn and attack against a fluid defense. Right now, they are playing against a static defense and they are not effective holding/building players. CPs attacking speed is wasted. SheeShee's incisive central passing is lost. I never knew what Gutsy was good at.

Berlin from 2000 until about 2009 may have been the greatest city to live in for the last hundred years. What a monolith of great times.

Now? New economy bull$hit has taken over.

    Leipzig is the bomb now...

Seems like I am the only one who likes Yarmo, but without him the team doesn't move the ball in any way that isn't easily predicted (I guess Kagawa and Gotze do it a little). You can see the passes coming a second before hand and so can the defenders. The only possibilities are hero ball or hoping deflections go your way. But honestly, the team knows this season is a failure. Champions league is done. BL title is lost. The only value left for this season is to finish in the top four while developing the kids. So let Auba go, get a decent (better than Schurrle) person to rotate with Schurrle and Isak, and try not to fall too far due to lack of goals. That seems to be the plan.

Wow, collapse from Dortmund and they concede in the 47 minute after Selke scores at the back post.

Lazaro great play on right wing against Toljan, who seems to think it's still halftime. Lazaro cross, Sokratis whiffs a potential clearance, OK shot by Selke turns into 1-0 as Burki can't reach the ball headed into the middle of the goal.

Gotze great through ball to Schurrle, who may have rushed a cross to Sancho at the back post. Wasted cross.

Schurrle / Pulisic nice combo, Pulisic's cross cleared out for a corner.

Seems Stogers great contribution to BvB is trying to shoehorn Kagawa into a 10 and Gutsy into a quasi defensive midfielder. It looks as awkward as a dog wearing a three piece suit.

Pulisic great backheel touch to Gotze in the box - a better first touch by Gotze would have earned him a shot.

Pulisic great move to create space in the box, shoots near top corner, saved over the top by Kraft.
