I guess there is a West Brom fan in the midlands who likes Sporting.

bumping this thread because i've heard a couple rumors about some changes to our appearance going forward ... and i don't just mean a new jersey. i mean, like, fundamental changes. anyone with any inside knowledge able to spill the beans? i've heard two different things, one less specific, and one that, if true, would be sheer insanity given the history of sports in this town.

There literally isn't a point to having an internet connection if you're going to throw out a tease like that on an anonymous message board without giving us the actual information, no matter how far from the truth it might be.

What are you waiting for??!! I want to know it all!

i know, and i apologize. i don't have any hard information, and what i do have, could compromise the person that gave it to me (or rather, the person that gave it to the person that gave it to me). i was hoping that if someone who has more info and felt better about sharing it saw that someone else had already brought it up, then they might be willing to corroborate or even elaborate.

Fair point, it can get tricky and it's always better to protect the people than spill the beans. I can respect that. Albeit a tiny bit grudgingly.

Fair enough. Don't want to get anyone in trouble. You gotta give us something though! Maybe the less specific thing?

And it appears that at least one other person has heard the same things you have. There's no other news happening anyway, so I'll just hold out and hope that it comes out eventually.

Might as well venture into totally uninformed speculation, then, if no one else wants to remember that this is a darn message board ;).

Is the one about "sheer insanity" something to do with removing the word "Kansas City" from the crest?

My thought when he said that is that since we're due a new secondary that the club is going to fully embrace the orange secondary color in memory of Neal, similar to what SPR has used.

I thought about a color change too, but the comment about "given the history of sports in this town" made me think it had to be something more momentous than that. I'm going with removing the "Kansas City" from the badge given that we have a history of multiple pro teams leaving Kansas City. Not that I'm expecting SKC to leave at all, but a badge change like that would not go over well.

what was the reasoning for the orange again? i remember asking why the 2017 on the wall for the open cup was orange, and was told it was for neal. ok, but then no one ever told me why orange... or i may have been told and just don't remember.

and for the purposes of the hornets nest here that i somewhat intentionally stirred up, my first rational thought was, like you buzz, that this rumor was actually just about a proper alternate kit (meaning, not featuring our primary colors, which all of our secondary jerseys fail to do) since we were getting a new one anyway this year, and it may have been misconstrued/misunderstood to be more over-arching in nature. though i will say... orange was not the color i heard. i think i would prefer orange.

The orange is because Patterson went to Oklahoma State and remained a huge fan his whole life. There's an orange seat in his family's suite at CMP for the same reason. (That seat has been orange since the stadium was built, btw.)

If it's just a color change, or introduction of a weird color, I'm having trouble seeing the connection to KC's history?

Only thought I had on that is that orange is a traditional color of the Broncos.

"Fundamental changes" to our apperence would have to imply a crest change and/or introducing a new kit color. If the decision is "sheer insanity" due to KC history, and it's not orange, what about black and silver?

I'm not surprised they're feeling the need to differentiate themselves from NYC. Because that club is going to always mimic their daddy club, and Man City is not going to change any time soon. We might have been that baby blue first, but if we want to be different, it's us that has to change.

Side note, I wouldn't abhor changes to the crest if they made it a little more interesting and a little less balloony.

It's why last year's primary frustrated me, cause we traded our secondary color with NYCFC so they could look less like MCFC, and instead we looked like MCFC copies.

The only changes that would make any sense at all in my mind are orange for Neil, or re-embracing the rainbow.
