Pretty sad season for mexicans in europe. There was a time when Vela, Corona, Herrera and others all did well in their leagues, now every one but one mexican has a good season for far
i remember how excited i was to see Vela mature as a player after the 2005 U17 Final. Now he’s retiring, time flies man.
Well, shoot, fellas. The last few posts were like a eulogy. I, too, am disappointed with how Vela's career panned out in the end. I remember 10 years ago how a spark of genius from Vela would let the imagination run wild with what his future could be like. Sadly, for us anyway, he is taking an early retirement in Los Angeles. (Not that I would have any issues making the kind of money he will make and live in SoCal, personally.)
Not long now until we see that Carlos Vela Ihop tweet inviting us to come eat a stack of rootie tootie pancakes
I want him to have a great world cup, for the sake of the team, for the sake of the country. After WC2018, I'm done with him and the Dos Santos brothers. Some of the greatest talent Mexico's national team will ever have, and their indifference left most of us feeling disappointed.
True. These guys were playing at Barcelona and Arsenal. To end up in the MLS is sad as fuk. I'm a little more pissed at Gio. He practically summoned his brother and homie to come out and live the party lifestyle with him. In the end, we at least got the U-17 in 2005 and that sick Gio goal in the 2011 GC final.
Cheech and Guardado? Could've easily taken a payday in Mexico or the MMLS but instead opted for Europe. Jimenez and Reyes also rejected money ball deals in China and Russia to stick it out in Portugal. Vela played with more urgency in these last 10ish minutes with La Real than he did all season. I don't think it's a coincidence that he scored a goal in his last game, he actually looked like he was trying. Gio, Jona and Vela could have been so much more. It's frustrating to see so much talent wasted on small minds.
Its pretty set in stone that Vela did not like football. He declined playing for Mexico for years, skipped training for concert and turned down offers for other clubs to stay comfortable. If there is any Mexican that defined wasted potential it's him. As far as pure talent goes, it goes downhill from here We won't see another Vela in a while (probably not ever)
'Cause we still talkin' about it. Plus, we can always change the title to "Carlos Vela @ the dumbass league thedragonrik58 likes"
