I dont want to see them moved or anything but when you look at the statistics like above it doesnt surprise me the league is considering moving on. A big market could survive that and they wont move but a small market has to be better cant be near the bottom or they will look to move.
Actually I would say that it is easier for a small market to survive, given that the overall costs are less than in a big market. Besides those statistics paint just one side of the coin. It has been said time and time again that the success of a franchise relies on 2 factors: To be able to control the revenues of the facilities where they play. Having a competent ownership that invest in the team, the community and it is engaged with the fans. jummm.. gues where the Columbus ecuation doesn't fit in the above factors?. Crew fans have told us that not only AP has been a desinterested/absentee owner. This year was been activelly working towards souring the relationship with the fans and community at large. As I heard once to Judge Judy: don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. the cause for the crew's "low attendance" is not related to the market, it is related to owenership (Hunt's son wasn't great either).
it’s actually the opposite. the holy grail for the league is a big tv contract. they dont need columbus for that but they need dallas and chicago for that

Good data. Almost a 16% drop for them vs. last year. I wonder why. Overall, Liga MX still slightly out-draws MLS on a per-game average, yet MLS now has more fans in aggregate due to having more teams/games.
I think that the newly promoted team only averaging 10k might factor into it if the team they replaced averaged more.
Check out the % change column though.. Basically every team is in the negative and some of them are big.. Puebla and UNAM are down over 40%.
Also wonder if its apertura vs. classura or an apertura v apertura comparison and if there's a difference normally, basic things like # of games, or the weather.
This is very true. Also, even if it is Apertura v Apertura they could just have not hosted the big drawing clubs this Apertura, but hosted them last Apertura. Since LigaMX "seasons" are actually just half seasons, there probably isn't much value in saying attendance is up/down until after Clausura is completed and do a whole year comparison.
Hopefully they add the temp seating like last year for the final (36,000), yes I know it was because of the Grey Cup is why they added the seats. They say how much it cost to install the seating?
Atlas outdrawing Chivas is the most interesting takeaway from the LigaMX numbers from my perspective.
No. The Corona and Coca Cola logos built into the seats takes care of that. http://andymead.photoshelter.com/ga...zLKaAu3LqEk/I0000N1FB3JCCUlI/C00001kFSIG9AmLs
It was not just the Grey Cup though.....it was that and an NHL outdoor game a couple of weeks later.....the MLS Cup final was really just the cherry on top of the financial sundae that justified expansion for those two events.....there is no way they could even have planned on there being an MLS final in Toronto as Toronto entered the playoffs last year with the 5th best record in the league....so even if they assumed getting to the final (which would have been bold) there were 2 teams in the west that would have hosted ahead of them had they got there. I am really not sure how much they would have to charge for those 6k seats to cover the cost of building them (never mind making them profitable) but I think it is all moot anyway because the vast majority of those seats were built in the south end and: Construction of them started weeks before the end of the season and it was several weeks later that they would/could be used for the first time...so I don't think they can build them in 9 days; and The club went a different way and built a much simpler enclosed "box" type structure there were they are selling warm/covered "paddock" seating with food and bev included....at a premium price relative to what those 6k seats were sold at.....so I think they have used a different economic model but the space is used. All that to say.....I doubt they are adding any significant number of additional seats before the cup final.
