First time I am first, let's open the Champagne! It will last just the time needed to empty the bottles, but it will be enjoyable, I will take a screen shot, will frame it and nail it just above my bed. My family will be so proud of me..... And for the jealous haters, yes I am a true foreigner and I dive (Uk football reference).
First time I am last. I've been shocked in previous years that I wasn't last, so this year seems about right.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you Enjoy the deserved rest before facing the final rounds of the bracket challenge. Here in Switzerland, I will not eat a big fatty turkey, but be sure I will open a bottle of good French wine, thinking about my forum mates and my beloved sons in the US. Take it easy guys.
I trust your sons have found Thanksgiving feasts to share. Thanksgiving is really quite a big deal in USA.⚽️❤️‼️
Romeo, now in Floride having played his RS Senior with Florida Institute of Technology (D2) as a graduate, has been invited by a friend from Pitt who is from Florida: he will enjoy the w.e in a US family. He has always been invited in friends' families for his previous four years and loved it. It will be part of the favorites memories of his stay in your country. Jérémie stays with team mates in Bakersfield. All foreigners, from UK, Norway, Germany... as all US kids are in their family. They are tired so will have a lazy break. They will also go to a Thanksgiving buffet dinner in a restaurant they know. So both of them will not be alone. Thanks for your thoughts.
With our daughter spending Thanksgiving with her boyfriend's family, we hosted a couple of students through the local university. It was nice spending time with new people.
Also, shouldn't @OverseasView be docked points for either not eating "fatty Turkey" or for exceeding the number of international competitors in the Bracket Challenge? C'mon @gsterp institute the proper controls to make this game unfair - such as retroactive relegation....
Don’t worry, @OverseasView will surely be punished for relying on the fuzzy math of the NCAA for his picks. Score update in the morning. Very exciting scores after the slog of the past couple years.
As promised, here is your score update! Almost everyone is doing very well, and six of the remaining eight teams have been chosen by at least one entrant to win the title this year, so it's very likely that if you want to win this pool, you have to have picked the national champion correctly. There are still 10 College Cup picks completely in tact as well, so good on those people. gsterp 59 fknbuflobo 55 PlaySimple 55 theatric7 55 xpowerout 55 gauchodan 53 stphnsn 53 boxcar123 52 OverseasView 52 Sandon Mibut 51 thisisstupid 51 Chaik 50 ENB Sports 50 JoeSoccerFan 49 roadrunnerecuador 49 VASoccer75 49 Hank T 48 mdc00 47 SBZipfan 47 TimB4Last 47 torwart 46 FC Concordia 44 ratmalph 44 WolverineFutbol 42 dolphinscoach 37
It's time for the last update before a champion is crowned. I've listed the remaining picks that are alive next to each contestant and bolded those that, according to my calculations, could still win the pool. @boxcar123 can repeat if Stanford threepeats, and @ENB Sports needs a Carolina victory. After that, it gets a little more complicated. If Indiana beats Akron in the final, @PlaySimple wins. If they beat UNC in the final, @fknbuflobo wins. @SBZipfan will win if Akron beats UNC, but @PlaySimple will have enough of a buffer built up if it's an Akron/IU final to withstand an Akron championship. Also, penalties are dumb and teams that can't make them should feel bad. gsterp 83 (UNC) fknbuflobo 79 (IU, IU) PlaySimple 79 (Akron/IU, IU) thisisstupid 75 (UNC) mdc00 71 (Akron/IU, IU) gauchodan 69 (UNC) stphnsn 69 (IU, IU) boxcar123 68 (Stan, Stan) OverseasView 68 (UNC) Sandon Mibut 67 (IU) ENB Sports 66 (UNC, UNC) JoeSoccerFan 65 (IU) Hank T 64 (IU) SBZipFan 63 (Akron, Akron) theatric7 63 (UNC) TimB4Last 63 (IU, IU) xpowerout 63 FC Concordia 60 (IU) WolverineFutbol 58 (Stan/IU, IU) roadrunnerecuador 57 (UNC) VASoccer75 57 torwart 54 (UNC) ratmalph 52 (IU) Chaik 50 dolphinscoach 45
Way too many PK failures. Each player has already accomplished something during the run of play that is far more difficult than converting a PK. The task is psychological.
Love it! To "threepeat"...... Never heard it until today: you made my day. With this one you deserve that I forget your dubious first place Monsieur l'organisateur... I love this forum more and more, each time I log to it. Thanks to all of you guys.
I love penalty shootouts. A combination of skills and mental fortitude for the striker... and the GK. The opposite of the pure sheer luck that the outraged non-believers love to shout in their crass ignorance. (Ok ok I am exaggerating but you get the point )
Again a thanks from me. If life is a big school, this forum with its members is a huge college-(soccer). only in your country someone would think to TM this. Love it.
I'm glad to read this and am now hoping that Akron wins it all. I have no ties to Indiana or Akron but I have to say that I really enjoyed watching Akron play Louisville. I hate that it went to PKs and wish Akron would have finished off the Cards in regulation or OT but it was one of the better matches I watched this year. Akron plays an attractive game of possession. They do Johan Cruyff and Barcelona proud.
