In your opinions which schools typically employ which style of play (direct, pretty and counter attack)? Are certain conferences known for one style over another? thx

Nebraska - brutally direct. Think Wimbledon in their "Crazy Gang" days.

I think the style of Ohio State soccer is primarily a possessive style of play. With Lara Dickenmann controlling the play, all the OSU players have the ability to possess and distribute the ball with varying degrees of ability, but all very competently. Dickenmann possesses a european flair with her style of soccer which is very entertaining to watch. Defensively, from my layman's point of view, I would characterize it as a classic Big Ten style, very physical, yet with backline players who possess size; 5'9", 5'7",5'11'', 5'3", and 6'2" in the goal, athletic, and very fast. The one intangible has been the team chemistry. Lori Walker finally has the talent to compliment her coaching philosophy, and the players sincerely enjoy playing with and for each other. Those two ingredients have translated into the Buckeyes most successful season thus far.
