Well, meh. Some ugly soccer on display today, unfortunately. None of the teams really stood out and I'm currently nonplussed about the pending conf. finals. Maybe the tide will turn before kickoff. Have to root for either eastern team for me. Crew obviously makes a neat story but I do think Toronto has played well enough for the year to be a deserving champion, and I would like to see Gio hoist the trophy someday for having done his part to raise MLS. Come on, lads. Let's make for better displays next round.

That postage stamp in NYC doesn't help matters. Nor does plastic pitch. Still, I thought Portland v Houston & TFC v Pink Cows were respectable games. And while Citeh v Crew wasn't pretty, it sat on a knife's edge for 40 minutes.
Yeah, there was tension in the games but having a non-soccer fan with me it was rather tough to sell today as an example of the "beautiful" game. Also: Have to laugh about Red Bulls' coach. Dude called out Atlanta for United's alleged physical play in their next-to-last match of the regular season, then his side goes out and plays 3 playoff matches of deliberately brutish football in an effort to disrupt the opposition, or whatever justification he could offer. Hooray for him!
The job's not over yet. Do it for Texas! (And rooting for Houston after this World Series makes me understand how the Brazilians felt in 2014)
Seeding means something, but not much. Especially after the advantages of the first round have passed. It's not as if Houston was that much worse than Portland over the entire season. Count the playoffs, and Houston may now actually be ahead on PPG. Nor is Columbus much behind NYC, and all they did in Atlanta was a scoreless draw. The only big upset of the playoffs was the Red Bulls destroying an unmotivated Chicago Fire.
On this very subject, I have an honest question. I am not 100% up to speed on MLS' disciplinary rules, but ifJozy was sent off for violent conduct, shouldn't that be a multiple game ban?
