http://ultra.zone/2018-FIFA-World-Cup-Group-Stage-Draws This will give you an idea. If you click on it enough you might get close.
Fair enough. Everyone travels differently. I hope that you and the other poster are pleasantly surprised. I've wanted to go to Russia for awhile now so this is great. The cost of a group stage ticket is pretty much the cost of a visa for Russia where I'm from too.
Disclaimer I've been to Russia (twice) but never been outside of Moscow. I think most visitors will be pleasantly surprised. Moscow is an amazing city. There is loads to see and do outside of football. I expect the World Cup to be well run. Hotels are available and reasonable at least in the bigger cities. Flights are cheap at least for those of us in Europe. tickets will most likely be easily available for many games. It won't be as good as Brazil but if I had my way the World Cup would rotate among countries that are south of Texas.
And lets be honest, there wasn't a lot to do in some of the WC 2014 host cities. I have never been to Russia, but I expect there to be plenty to do in Moscow and St. Petersburg, just like in Sao Paulo and Rio. And is Kaliningrad and Ekaterinberg really any worse than Fortaleza, Recife, etc.? Doubt it...
Moscow, St. Petersburg - great destinations, and the only host cities I've visited before yet Kaliningrad can be combined with a trip to Lithuania, Poland and Europe in general. Sochi - climate and the sea Kazan should have some benefits, due to big International competition experience Other destinations probably less exciting, but still they will try to do their best.
Man, I hope I am missing some sarcasm here. Fortaleza and Recife have some of the most fantastic tropical beaches in the world very nearby.
It could be some very interesting and high profile games in St Petersburg. Hoping for some nice pot one teams except for Portugal and Poland in those games.
Just imagine, if bribery was not the guiding force, it would have been Spain-Portugal 2018 and Australia 2022. That would have been fantastic.
I've been in Russia once, in 2015. I really enjoyed Moscow, spent there 5 days and saw a lot of culture stuff. The only problem was the alphabetic and no-english menus in restaurants, but I've tried different and tasty foods and beers! I tried a lot of "dumplings" (is it correct?) and it was very tasty. Really excited to go back, I think the country will be more prepared to the turists than in 2015.
I think it will be important to learn some Russian Cyrillic especially if you are getting out of the main cities. Someone on another forum posted this guide that could help: https://imgur.com/gallery/bCiPTU5
That would be ideal, but could've also been UK 2018 and US 2022. Well... anything is better than Qatar.
I think many people after visiting, experiencing and seeing what Russia is about will leave with an whole new positive view of Russia. Regarding Moscow, there's so much to see and do, from visiting parks like Gorky,Sokolniki ,Tsaritsyno and Kolomenskoye park. A ride on the Radisson boat up and down the Moscow river, pass the Kremlin to Gorky park. A full day is needed to see (VDNKh): All Russia Exhibition Centre http://vdnh.ru Good to take kids here, rope city and the recently opened Moskvarium (Oceanarium), and just outside is the Space museum. If you get tired of the hustle and bustle of Moscow, visit of the places on the Golden Ring, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Ring Suzdal is probably the most popular of them all, public transport is cheap, Moscow to Pereslavl Zalessky 150km from Moscow return is 600ru, worth spending a night in these places. If you're thing is to spend most of your time in pubs, beers houses, Moscow has got the lot, from Germany ,Czech beer houses, to English and Irish pubs, all serve decent food. Like most places craft beer is popular here, loads around the city, so to are many burger joints, Moscow seems to be going through a craft beer and meat revolution, when it comes to eating out you're spoilt for choice. I could go on and on, one last thing ,with the ruble losing roughly 30% of its value, Russia is a cheap place to visit..
The dumplings are called " pelmeni". You'll probably see a big change, right now there is massive road works going on in the centre, new pavements, streets being done, etc. What's finished looks impressive.. They just finished a new park right near Red Square.. Lots of signs in English now around the centre of Moscow, even in the metro, Speaking of the metro, I recommend to all who are coming to Moscow and St Petersburg to install the app ,yandex metro, very useful for getting around the metro, click on station you're at and where you want to go and gives all info.
I just got a second confirmation email from FIFA. The first was after my initial credit card charge was denied. I take it this is confirmation from FIFA that the second one was not denied.
then you obviously havent been there still, I am sure russian cities have a lot to offer, but no matter how nice weather might be you won't fnd those beaches there drink few caipirinhas on the top and you want to stay there forever
Guess my comment was based on the type of person I am - which is NOT a beach person. This is me at the best beach in the world: 11:00am: arrives 11:10am: starting to get bored. Checks watch and wonders if its too early to start drinking 11:20am: no clue what to do. Orders a drink. I guess I just don't get how people can spend a whole day at the beach. That said when there's football all day starting at about 13h00 or 14h00 its not an issue. But didn't find those cities had a lot to offer beyond the beach and the streets right next to the beach.
Congats Crocodile Gena! Who is your bank? I was able to speak once again with FIFA and they said they would attempt to charge my card a 3rd time. <Fingers, eyes, and toes crossed>
If people want to add to the list of tickets as got by TA readers then please do as it usually makes interesting reading when compiled. Well I would say that. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowT..._get_I_know_its_early-World_Cup.html#87300437
I'm with you on that. I spent 23 wonderful days in Brazil and had a lot of fun. But the beach wasn't a highlight. The day after USA v Ghana in Natal I spent walking up and down the beach, stopping in for food and drinks at the beachside bars, and to be honest was bored. I spent 11 days in Ipanema/Copacabana but most of the time went to other neighborhoods inland as I enjoy hanging out in the city more than the beach. In fact, I never once spent time on the sand or went in the water. I live in a beach town already and hardly go. So for me Russia is far more interesting as I want to explore the cities, restaurants, bars, museums, historical points of interest, etc. I'm very much looking forward to my visit. It's all personal interest and we're all different as to what we like and don't like. That being said...I think a lot of us are in agreement that Qatar will suck in 2022! It seems to have little to nothing of interest to anybody, especially compared to other countries. But that discussion is for the Qatar thread. It's all about Russia next summer now for me and I'm very excited about what I will see and experience in addition to the great football..
Did your bank notify you of the rejection? my Bank says no attempt have bien made, and got the FIFA mail on friday, hope I get the Link soon to pay through my FIFA account
