We would like to welcome defender Alex Tozer to the St. Louis Ambush for the 2017-18 season![READ MORE:] https://t.co/L2ljWRgvfc pic.twitter.com/QZZ9R5oaHI— St. Louis Ambush (@stlouisambush) September 29, 2017 Well, Hewerton turned Cedar Rapids into a winner by making them: And now with St. Louis he's looking at:
Blast re-sign Pat Healey, two others http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/soccer/bs-va-sp-blast-brief-1005-story.html
I wonder if the Rampage let the cat out of the bag. I have seen nothing from the league or Mitre. Probably waiting to have them available for sale..
The Ambush are finally signing several veteran players and of course hiring Hewerton as head coach. I am relieved to see efforts to creating a true professional roster. The coaching will be light years better. No such effort was made before last season, and not much prior to that. It has been a long journey of losing 77% of our games since starting in 2013. I hope Saint Louis finally has a truly competitive team this season.
MASL Rules for 2017-18 http://www.maslsoccer.com/news/masl-announces-rules-points-of-emphasis-for-2017-2
Article on the Cedar Rapids Rampage: http://www.thegazette.com/outdoor-s...ame-indoors-for-cedar-rapids-rampage-20171013
Two interesting bits there... 1) Drew Russell, a Mount Vernon native and former 1860 Munich youth product and German pro, was a stand out defender with the Rampage United. Another CR defender Hewerton tried to poach. 2) I am happy to see Malicevic with the indoor team. He was a high school legend here, who scored a goal for Drake against North Carolina in 2-1 loss in the 2009 NCAA Elite 8. I played indoor against him in a local tournament final about a year after I was recruited by D3 Coe, and he had just finished with Des Moines Menace. He single-handedly destroyed us. After his Euro pro career, he was a college assistant and high school ref until Rampage United came around. He was rusty and out of shape that first year but came back last year and was a lethal strike partner with Gordy Gurson for Rampage United. He was a big reason they won the pla West last season.
Just when you thought you heard the last from the former Seattle Impact owner... https://www.seattletimes.com/sports...-earl-charged-with-sexual-assault-in-arizona/
Man oh Man, Dion has some problems now. Big ones too. Kidnapping is a very serious charge, while I am not any sort of a legal expert, that alone is around 20 years. Kidnapping is one step below murder, in time count terms. Two victims, independent of the other, answering an advert for babysitting and he pulls this(allegedly). I doubt this case gets dismissed beforehand. Full props for both those young ladies to go to the cops as well. This is exactly the type of situation they are tasked to investigate.
I just saw that MASL will be streaming live on ESPN3. I know a couple of seasons ago that he MASL was on ESPN3. Is this true? If so is ESPN actually going to broadcast the games or is it going to be like a couple of seasons ago? Where they just use the local feed and just put it thought on the ESPN3 App?
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/soccer/bs-sp-blast-preview-20171107-story.html Baltimore Sun article on the Blast, previewing their season and their move to the SECU Arena. Interesting items: 1) seating is now listed at 3,800 (instead of 4,000 as was stated before) 2) team has "500-plus" season ticket holders, about the same as last season Also, by looking at the Ticketmaster map of SECU Arena for their 1st home match on Friday, November 10th, the Blast appear to be about 230 tickets shy of a sellout (yes, I counted the open seats).
Alex Tozer has not showed up yet in Saint Louis; no show for both exhibition games, didn't play in the opening regular season game last Saturday either. Maybe he is coming later, I don't know. Our home opener in Saint Louis is Saturday, I will see what I can find out.
There are 3,462 seats available for sale on Ticketmaster (I had someone count), plus 4 suites with 20 seats each. Not sure where the other 258 capacity comes from.
Yeah, I remember during the first Dion Show just wishing he would just go away! It now looks like Dion is just going away!
First big mid-season trade... The Rampage have acquired MF @zevictorfrance from @stlouisambush for D Pablo Da Silva & MF Tony Aguilar. https://t.co/ULntU3cZkZ pic.twitter.com/ZmDgAacfe5— Cedar Rapids Rampage (@CRRampageSC) December 1, 2017 Head scratcher considering Da Silva has been huge for Cedar Rapids' defense and that is the area CR has needed to shore up most. They cite youth of France vs Da Silva, but CR was in a position to get in to the playoffs now. Would not be surprised if cutting salary was a concern for CR.
It seems like the Ambush got excellent all around players in both those guys. The passing out of the back end and defense have not been very good so far in Saint Louis but these guys will fill that need. It's a step in the right direction. We can't keep falling behind 5-0 early in games.
Is there such a thing as too many target forwards? Scoring 9 goals a game is not so great if you allow 11 goals. France can definitely score but he doesn't do much else. Great guy, hard working player.
Ambush were lethargic, they didn't play well at all in losing to Harrisburg. It will take a lot more than two new players to turn things around. I don't think most of this team believes they can compete. It is more than just the real gap in talent. Losing 19 of 20 games can wear down anyone. Now they play the Blast. Oh brother.
