"[There is] excitement in this group..about where we want this club to end up." "You're reading into this about how it's going to affect (the players).. they are very focused." Will the fan support stay the same? "I think so." LOL
Ol' Pit Pat is coming back from the dead. He lost his beloved Crew experience a few years ago and wanted to pass on his heartfelt empathy to the Columbus Crew BigSoccer community.
I never watch reality television, but I have been told it is exciting because of the probability for a train wreck. That was a sh!tshow.
Don't know if this has been posted already. Edit: Apparently, it was. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/sports/2013/07/30/1-crew-announcement.html Piece of shit lied to our ********ing faces.
Fraud in selling season ticket packages--especially with the automatic renewal/rollover and the timing of some of the required payments if you pay all at once. But it would be very difficult to prove.
Even as I wallow in my own misery, I can't imagine what's going through the minds of the Homegrown Players right now. Wait, I am sure they are just laser-focused on the training. That's what GG said...
They are professionals. This stuff happens every day in the real world, and you have to deal with it there. That said, if Trapp isn't looking for an exit to Europe, I'd be surprised.
Even if this idea had any legal legs on it at all, at best you'd get damages for plaintiffs. It certainly won't stop the move.
Think of it more of business as usual. Despite upper management's continued insistence they value you and your contributions to the company and hope to have your continued support with the company for decades until you retire the company continues to restructure, do more with less, ask you to document and train people from other countries to do your job, see the number of people in the building slowly decrease over the months all the time wondering to yourself "how can they continue to afford this" then you get that memo stating the branch is closing, you get a month of pay and everything is moving to a state willing to "make operations more affordable" and/or to India or the Philippines. But, please stay for the next few months so we can continue smooth operations and transition to your ( cheaper ) replacements. Like Tobias, Crew soccer was a happy point for me dealing with clinical depression but a couple years ago I felt something was wrong and attending matches and discussing here with all of the very diverse egos and creativity hasn't been working. I have no doubt Precourt, or as I prefer to call him "Team Stealing Turd Holster" (or Thuh which we can turn into a chant like "Nee Nee Nee") , is moving the team. Maybe Columbus can do something. Doubt it. Everyone here deserves better or butter or both. If this is truly the end then thanks for the memories as there have been plenty. Personally, I will see out 2017 and would thank the players. I'll finish the "Grouchy Game". If the 2018 season is a desolate, silent, echo chamber of a stadium without flair and banners and people so be it. Turd Holster would simply use it to justify it's actions fully supported by Garber (aka Monkey Anus). Best to vote with the wallet.
So, before BS broke under the weight of all this mess, I meant to say: All of us up here in Civilized Ohio still have UA, until the inevitable (and probably necessary) collapse of NCAA soccer. So there's that. Big game against Notre Dame tonight.
But Trapp is the exception here. Some of the others are given time to develop because they come under a Homegrown exemption. The clock just started ticking louder on their time in MLS because no other team is going to get an exemption for them.
Quite so. The only thing that could do that is if the original sales contract to Prec*nt was screwed up in some way or there's some written promise that was made. I hold out no hope. The best we'll get is the name and colors and record and perhaps the trophy(s). Likely for a price.
Complicit media comes out in droves for sickening tragedy. Where were they for these Berhalter speeches on a regular Tuesday? Part of the problem.
Greetings, solidarity and condolences from San Francisco. I have traveled to Columbus many times for soccer matches: two MLS Cups, one MLS ASG, seven WCQ's. I have only good memories and am sad that I may not return to Mapfre Stadium. I'll miss it and other favorite Columbus spots, like Buckeye Donuts, Dirty Franks and various branches of the Columbus Public Library. Sorry you are getting a screw job. Par for the course in today's world, unfortunately.
- Precourt decided to leak-announce his "give me public money or else" plan yesterday. - It's discovered Precourt had an out clause in his 10-year no-move agreement: Austin. - The mayor of Austin quickly responded saying MLS is welcome but will not find public financing there for a stadium downtown or anywhere else. - It's revealed MLS registered trademarks for Austin FC and Austin Athletic a few months ago. - The Don poo-pooed the Crew and its stadium in statements about the situation. - The Columbus government came out and said they'd had talks with the Crew but didn't feel they were engaging at a serious level. - Its revealed local businesspeople have known about Precourt's interest in Austin for at least month and have tried to buy in to keep the Crew in town only to be turned away. It would appear Precourt was always wanting to move the team to Austin and finally got the go-ahead for the relocation from MLS a few months ago. He never really tried to get a stadium built in Columbus with public monies nor did he seek private partners to finance one. However, it also appears he failed to do his due diligence in Austin as it relates to securing the public funding he's after, has overplayed his hand, and is now sitting in no-man's land between a city that now hates him and a city that will not fund him.
