Is it me or does the Obra II look like clown shoes on Dani Carvajal? I had the Obra II when the Elite Pack colorway came out and though I loved it at first (especially the comfort), it became soon apparent how bulky it was. And it got sloppy as I broke them in too. I went with my usual size 8 as opposed to Josh from SR4U’s advice to go up half a size.
I'm also true to size in the magista, and now you've ruined that colorway on magistas for me. I can't unsee the clown shoes.
I’ve heard some people say the magista obra runs more true to size where as the opus runs a half size small. I guess is all depends on foot shape and how you like your boots to feel. And now all I see are clown shoes. Especially in the orange color haha
Has anyone here have any long-term experience with using the AG-Pro soleplate on nice, natural grass fields? I just copped a pair of Superfly V in the AG-Pro configuration and I gotta say it does feel a little bit nicer on AG compared to using the FG ones. Not very drastic though. More of a mental edge on safety, if anything.
I just got used to Dani Carvajal wearing a ‘sleeker’ silhouette as opposed to the bulky Obra II. And IDK if it’s just me but I think taller players who wear the Obra II (Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Nicolás Otamendi) are less likely to look like they’re wearing clown shoes
if i'm a US9.5 in magistaX2 indoors and they fit perfectly, what size obra2s should i order? i've seen a lot of people order up a half or full size for obras, but i actually went down a half size from my morelia2s (US10) for the magistaX2 indoors.
@Jaxinho i wore a pair of AG superfly's for a full season on grass and they were great. didn't notice any difference between them and my FG vapors.
Thanks! I had this feeling I was maybe missing out on something by not getting the revered NikePlate soleplate. Next time, for sure. Maybe when the Superfly 6 hits the shelves.
It's too bad they didn't bring the tongue back. It's a cool silhouette but I can't imagine a gold over tongue is hard to incorporate. For a lot of us this was the time that folding the tongue as far as possible and keeping laces long to wrap around the foot was the thing to do
I love them. I'd get the red and black ones, but I try not to buy boots I'm hesitant to actually wear.
Rooney seems to be wearing some blacked out Total 90s. Are these going to be the next limited edition release from Nike? Not sure why they chose those though they we’re an awful boot! Should have gone with the first ones if they are. At least they had the cool sole plate! appleCORR
I am glad they are realizing the love for heavier boots with shooting elements... but my favorite are the zoom air total 90 III..
Those were good ads back in the day, if I remember right, Torres was in that one with all the targets
I got a little creative with my blackout Superfly V. I’ve always loved blacking out my boots and then maybe doing a little something to them. I was inspired by the R9 Mercurials but I only did it on one side. Also scored a $45 Nike Incyte OMB from ebay as I am unlucky to find these things at a Marshalls/Ross. Obviously i’m not an artist
Those SF look great good job! I remember Rooney had to kick the ball through a step ladder into a camper that was being used as a target. Took him a few attempts but he got it eventually! appleCORR
What do you guys think of the Tiempo Legacy 3? Been hearing nothing but good things about it, especially the one where it's very similar to the Legend VII in general. Really tempted to try out a pair.
A limited edition K-leather T90 Laser would be the perfect way for Nike to take the shine off adidas' upcoming Ace/Predator rebrand...
Rooney has been training in a pair of silver/black lasers this week. Looks like he’s ditched the blacked out pair. appleCORR
I’m kinda late on this hype train but today I got the chance to try some Vapor XIs. I LOVE them. I was afraid they’d be as ultra-tight as the Vapor X I had 2 years ago (which gave me the biggest blister I ever had) but no. I can even use my thickest training socks and it’s still perfect. I have a training session tomorrow morning on FG and then a game on AG. I’ll see how they perform. No wonder a ton of professionals use this silo. I hope they always have a Teijin-upper variation of the Vapors even if they go the Flyknit Ultra route.
Curious what you think of using the FG soleplate on AG. Josh from soccerreviewsforyou says it’s WAY too sticky (and therefore unsafe). However, it seems like most of the players in my Sunday league use FG on our AG pitch, including players wearing the Vapor XI FG soleplate. I am paranoid that if I wear that soleplate I would get my foot stuck in the AG and have some horror injury that I’ve heard about (not sure how much actual truth there is to it; probably depends on individual play style?). Really torn because I love everything about the vapor XI: fits my foot perfectly, teijin material really shows its maturity at this point in the product lifecycle, stud pattern is grippy, and the compressed nylon soleplate is a truly effective performance feature. Let me know your thoughts after the game tomorrow. Good luck.
