Sarina Weigman did a great job getting this team prepared for the competition. She had them playing attacking Dutch style football and figured out a way to paper over the porous defense. She proved herself a better trainer than many of the recent trainers handling the men's NT.

"Eric Gudde has been officially confirmed as the new director of football at the KNVB.

The appointment means the KNVB is finally moving forward after the departures of former director of football Bert van Oostveen and technical director Hans van Breukelen."

    http://www.football-oranje.com/gudde-named-new-knvb-director/

What does all that mean...? Good or bad thing?

LVG is rumored to replace Ancelotti at Bayern. It will be his 2nd time at Bayern and I wonder perhaps this time he can bring Danny Blind to be his assistant.....;)

I read that he did promise. There was a rumour that he would become technical director of KNVB after Van Breukelen stepped down and that did not materialize. I don't think Bayern would hire LVG again.

  11. Okay, who are available and, most importantly, are capable to take the baton?
    Fred Rutten is free, capable.

I would disagree with Rutten being capable.
I don't know if we should pick a coach who is pragmatic and plays to win games, in this case my choice will be v.Marwijk who is currently free and capable.
or should we go with a young promising coach and give him all the time he needs to build a new team from scratch, in which case my choice would be Erik ten Hag.

Well, I know we will end up with a f*cked up choice from KNVB, i.e. FDB.

Thomas Tuchel is still available though I'm sure he wants the Bayern job if Heynkes is just a caretaker for this season.

Tuchel would be a superb choice imo. no doubt about that.
He is not a title winner though, but he will probably make an excellent team footballing-wise.

van Marwijk did really well with Saudi Arabia recently, helping them reach a major tournament for the first time since 2006.

I don't agree with bringing in Gullit, or any other new/inexperienced coach. The last time we did that with Danny Blind, the results were terrible. I would prefer an experienced, seasoned coach to take on the task of giving this team an overhaul. Either Bert, or possibly a foreign coach.

Option 1 we starts to rebuild from scratch with young player playing 4-3-3, beginning with any friendly game after Sweden game right away. The risk is that we may not qualify for Euro 2020 but it will set up us well for WC 2022. I don't know who will be a good coach for this, but I'm dreaming of the day perhaps Bosz is the head coach and Jonk will assist him.

Option 2 we need a transition coach, playing whatever style to succeed. The goal is to qualify for Euro 2020. Bert Van Marwijk (perhaps Van Bommel can be the assistant) and Ronald Koeman are the choices. Cocu and Gio, once gaining more experiences can be the next head coach.

Time to say good bye to Huntelaar, Van Persie, Sneijder, Robben, Babel, Stek, Cillessen, Janmaat. Perhaps we select 26 years old and younger only for the national team.

Well, Gudde is Koeman's buddy so to speak. What can go wrong?

Koeman would have to be crazy to take on these bunch of misfits.

I would wait till the next real generation arrives (if there ever is another one)

  21. The crazy thing is that he's willing to give up 1.5 years = 18 months of about 400kBritish pounds a month for it.
Ronald is very good organizing the defense and ...surprise....we've got defenders:DA lot of them:)Probably too many:(

Back when it was first mooted Van Gaal would move away from the 4-3-3 he used during the WCQs (for Brazil) I found an article from a trustworthy paper that credited Koeman as the one that inspired LVG (and posted it here in the relevant thread). Later Van Gaal claimed he took from la Liga sides that were able to frustrate him playing reactive football. I can't confidently claim that LVG shared credit with Koeman. Regardless, it might not be the worst idea to go back where LVG left off and Koeman would be your man. The lovable Boskamp agrees:

LvG isnot on speaking terms with Koeman, to say the least and LvG, despite his unquestionable coaching qualities, is also a very narrowminded self glorifying pathetic little man. I think, given his major character flaws, he should be kept as far away as possible from any influential KNVB post.
He just cannot bring himself to give credit to someone he doesnot like, while using his ideas plus the men that executed that 5 men line from Feyenoord..
Koeman was the one that introduced to Feyenoord the 5 men back line, because we were in the midfield to weak to pressure enough to make a 4 men back line work. Koeman also had the problem the central defenders were too coward to push up high on the pitch, which made for a big gap between the defense and the midfield that an opponent could use to kill us. So he created the 5 men back line that could morph into a 3 men back line with 2 en in front of them, which dealt with the midfield gap. I still see how furious Koeman tried to get the defense move higher up against Ajax in the Arena. We could beat Ajax then were it not for the cowardness of the defense which supplied Ajax with the space to counter attack.

Kees van Wonderen will be assisting Koeman. Brother Erwin would have been an ideal choice for assistant.. he had experiences managing NT (with Hungary). But I thought I read that Erwin declined to be involved, not sure why.
