i think we need to get back on track with a win here. an away draw at Stoke is acceptable but our league start is fairly generous in terms of opponents and venues and we need to bag these points early. we also need to do it without Pogba.

    let's get it

The massive talking point will be Rooney. Given the totality of exigent circumstances, Koeman might be best advised to leave Wayne off the squad sheet altogether. Everton are the inferior club, but they could catch us on a bad day. They don't need the distraction of the former United man IMHO.

We should win against a team fielding Rooney.

I'd start Young again. Especially since Fellaini will start.

I would go with a double-pivot of Matic and Fellaini. Ahead of them put Mata central and Young right. It would be interesting to see how a Valencia and Young right-sided tandem would operate.

What is this 2013? Not that I don't agree that they should start based on their performance yesterday. It's crazy to think we are still talking about Young and Fellaini in 2017.

Given how Mata and Miki have performed on the RW so far, I would be curious as well to see how AY would do in that position.
Regardless though, he's shown pretty clearly that for this season, at the very least, he still has a role to play. The fact that he can easily slot in into 4 different positions alone of needed, makes him pretty valuable.

Whoever Jose goes with, Bailly and Jones need to put in a much, much better performance over what we saw from them v Stoke. Do that and we'll dispatch the Toffees. Continue to lapse in concentration and we'll be in danger.

That would be intriguing, but what about Young at LB? I know hes not as strong at that position but we've produced so little from the left because our FBs haven't been up to snuff it might help balance out the play.

    i hope we stuff them.

i like Everton's progress and ambition as a club but it annoys me to no end when they freely bend over for liverpool and fight like hell against everyone else in the top 6

this is what i would go with. i can't remember (if ever?) jose has tried martial and rashford on opposite wings. i think mata deserves an actual shot in the hole. if he can't do the job there, then we should look to sell in january. he's useless out wide.

    lukaku
    martial - mata - mkhi
    matic - fellaini
    young - jones - bailly - valencia
    de gea

subs: romero, lindelof, darmian, carrick, herrera, mata, lingard.

Right but didn't Spurs just beat them 3-0 at home?

Also they have a trip away to Atalanta tomorrow. Anything less than a 2 goal win on Sunday will be bad.

Just a thought, but maybe this is a good match to give Carrick a run out, if even for 20 minutes as a sub. Everton are slow as hell so the pace of the match shouldn't be a major issue for him. I honestly don't think we need Matic starting on Sunday. Carrick and Herrera can do a trick in midfield.

Everton's front three will likely be re-jigged by Koeman after two sound defeats, but Rooney and Sigurdsson will likely start. If he also starts Klassen I don't expect our defence having much trouble. Calvert-Lewin can stretch the back, but there don't have runners capable of filling the gaps he makes.

I fully expect Lukaku to have a field day.

Haha...called it. I said back the day we signed Matic, wait until Jose pairs him with Fellaini.

    This should be fun.
