    1-1 at the half.

Scott Sealy unassisted in the 22nd, Adam Christman from Hunter Freeman in the 37th.

Freeman's assist is his 21st on the season, a new school record for helpers in one year. Not bad for a back, especially considering all the good mids who have played in C-Ville.

Is Scott Sealy any relation to U Conn's Steve Sealy?

No mention of it in Scott's bio at wakeforestsports.com.

Wake Forest a goal down and now a man down - James Riley sent off in the 68th minute.

Comparing the bios, they seem to be from different schools in different towns.

I'm guessing that Sealy is a common last name in the Caribbean ... these two are both from T&T, and Malik (RIP) was from Barbados, I think.

82nd, still 2-1. Thanks for the help with the PbP, boys, and the Sealy info. I was curious about that myself.

Wake's Curfman hit the bar in the 81st.

Riley's send off was for a second bookable offense.

    Thanks, Ed.

UVa improves to 16-4 and is in the final for the fourth year in a row, at least. (I can't remember past 2001, but that year they lost to Clemson in the final, two years ago fell to Maryland then beat Maryland on PKs last year.

Wake Forest falls to 13-5-1 but as ACC reg. season champs is a lock for an at-large bid.

Anyone who saw the game, i hope your dry by now. Littlefield scored a good goal and within a minute the entire field was underwater. The last half hour was a circus, completely unplayable. It was probabaly the best thing that could have happened to Virginia. Wake took it to them for a good part of the first hour but the last half hour was no where near soccer. It was interesting that the maryland carolina game was cancelled half way through the second half of the wake uva game yet they still insisted on finishing out the slip and slide affair. Unlucky for wake yet again, virginia escapes. History tells us that uva will meet wake probably first or second round of the NCAA's.

the match report claims that 81st minute shot that hit the post was stopped deliberately by Matt Oliver's hand. Anybody at the match care to elaborate, or is this just bitching and moaning by a school who's father is Virginia.

The questionable play was actually Nico Colaluca. It appeared as though it hit the inside of his right arm on the goal line. There was also some debate about whether or not he was in the goal but the linesman was standing even with the penalty spot and unable to make the call. It did appear intentional but it's tough to say.

I wasn't at the game, but I talked separately over the weekend with a couple tournament officials that I know (one at the ACC and one at UNC) plus a member of the media.

They all believed the handball was exactly that.

They all believed the game should have been stopped. The field conditions on Saturday were fine. And Virginia had the benefit of an extra day of rest in today's championship.

For all of its greatness on the field, the officiating and management of the tournament is nowhere close.

It just wasn't a fair tournament. Virginia got the benefit of playing in conditions that HEAVILY favored them. Then, because the UNC-Maryland game was postponed a day, they got the benefit of an extra day that HEAVILY favored them.

If Virginia hadn't won the tournament the way it was set up for them... it would have been sad.

It was almost as though the ACC had accidently had trophy engraved for Virginia on Monday and they had to make sure the 'Hoos won just to save themselves the embarassment.
