Feel free, but there are still a handful of games that will impact this and I think it's too early. I'm gonna keep the status quo till then.

Hartwick (13-3-3) lost tonight to Fla. International 3-1 so FIU takes the Atlantic Soccer's automatic bid and sends the 'wick to the at-large pool.

And, James Madison (15-3-1) falls to ODU 3-1 in the CAA semis and they too are in the pool.

And, as a dark-horse nominess, I throw out Georgetown (11-6-2) which lost to Seton Hall in OT of the Big East semis. Their only quality wins are over Seton Hall in the regular season and WVU, so I doubt they'll get in, but you never know.

    Boston College (12-4-2)
    California (11-3-3)*
    Cal State Northridge (10-5-2)*
    Denver (10-5-1)*
    Duke (14-5-0)
    Duquesne (13-6-1)
    Georgetown (11-6-2)
    Hartwick (13-3-3)
    Indiana (14-4-1)
    James Madison (15-3-1)
    Kentucky (11-5-3)
    Michigan (10-7-4)
    North Carolina State (8-8-2)
    Notre Dame (13-2-3)
    Ohio State (10-6-2)
    Penn State (10-4-7)
    Portland (10-6-2)*
    Santa Clara (13-5)*
    Stanford (7-5-5)*
    St. Johns (10-5-4)
    South Carolina (11-6-1)*
    South Florida (10-5-2)
    UCLA (12-3-2)*
    UNC-Greensboro (18-2-1)
    UNC-Wilmington (12-6-2)
    Virginia Commonwealth (11-5-2)
    Wake Forest (13-5-1)

The good news for Creighton (13-4-1) is that losing in PKs counts as a tie so they won’t have another loss on their record. They should be fine for an at-large bid.

Also Friday, in key non-tournament games, San Francisco beat Portland 4-1 and Santa Clara beat Loyola Marymount 1-0.

LMU (10-7-3) is done for the season. They are a half a game in front of USF (13-4-1) for first place in the West Coast Conference and its automatic bid. However, the Dons have a game Sunday against Gonzaga and if they win it, they will pass LMU for first place and send LMU smack-dab onto the bubble. If USF loses, LMU gets the automatic bid. Bubble teams should be rooting for the Dons as they are a stronger at-large candidate than LMU.

Meanwhile, Santa Clara improves to 14-5, which should get them an at-large bid, while Portland (10-7-2), which has one more game Sunday, badly needs a win.

Also, Denver beat Air Force Friday night 1-0 to improve to 11-5-1 and help their case.

    Here's the updated list.

    Boston College (12-4-2)
    California (11-3-3)*
    Cal State Northridge (10-5-2)*
    Creighton (13-4-1)
    Denver (11-5-1)*

    James Madison (15-3-1)

Been out afternoon and am just getting caught up. Thanks to those who have added other schools.

Saint Louis fell to Memphis in the CUSA semis and the Billikens are definitely a bubble team who will need to hope their rep carries them. They've got some good wins - UVa, UAB, South Florida - but one of their wins was over a D-III school, and that's not gonna help at all. Nor will the losses to George Mason and Cincinnati.

    Boston College (12-4-2)
    Butler (13-6-1)
    California (11-3-3)*
    Cal State Northridge (10-5-2)*
    Creighton (13-4-1)

    Duke (14-5-0)
    Duquesne (13-6-1)

    Indiana (14-4-1)
    James Madison (15-3-1)
    Kentucky (11-5-3)
    Michigan (10-7-4)

    Penn State (10-4-7)

One or two more to come today, then a handful tomorrow.

Re: W Va and Georgetown.. was at the tournament at rutgers. aweful weather - hurt W va against an athletic UConn team. They did not look real good. Georgetown and Seton Hall were both real good and either could have won in regulation. Both W Va and Gu will probably not get in, but they are 2 of the best teams in the last half of the season and in a great conference.

In a non-tournament game involving at-large teams, Cal beat Stanford 3-2 in double OT.

It's a crushing loss for Stanford, which is now 7-6-5 and it's gonna be really tough to get an at-large bid with all the good teams that are listed here with just seven wins. Cal, on the other hand, appears in good shape after improving to 12-3-3.

Here's the list, updated to reflect the above game.

    Boston College (12-4-2)
    Butler (13-6-1)
    California (12-3-3)
    Cal State Northridge (10-5-2)*
    Charlotte (11-7-1)
    Creighton (13-4-1)
    Denver (11-5-1)*
    Duke (14-5-0)
    Duquesne (13-6-1)
    Georgetown (11-6-2)
    Hartwick (13-3-3)
    Indiana (14-4-1)
    James Madison (15-3-1)
    Kentucky (11-5-3)
    Michigan (10-7-4)
    North Carolina (10-8-2)
    North Carolina State (8-8-2)
    Notre Dame (13-2-3)
    Ohio State (10-6-2)
    Penn State (10-4-7)
    Portland (10-7-2)*
    Saint Louis (9-8-1)
    Santa Clara (14-5)*
    Stanford (7-6-5)
    St. Johns (10-5-4)
    South Carolina (11-6-1)*
    South Florida (10-5-2)
    UCLA (12-3-2)*
    UNC-Greensboro (18-2-1)
    UNC-Wilmington (12-6-2)
    Virginia Commonwealth (11-5-2)
    Wake Forest (13-5-1)
    Washington (11-5-2)*
    West Virginia (12-7-1)

Stanford came within two minutes of wrapping up an at-large bid, but Cal gets an equalizer with less than two minutes left in regulation, then win in the second OT.

Final score: Cal 3, Stanford 2

The Cardinal, now officially 7-6-4, are in deep water. The one factor that works in their favor is that they've faced a tougher schedule than just about anyone. All five of the teams that beat them are national powers (UCLA did it twice), and there's a strong chance that all four of the teams that tied them will also be in the field of 48.

Congratulations to Cal for a great season. If Mike Muñoz hadn't been hurt, they would've been a serious title contender.

Interesting situation in MAAC tournament, Rider with a losing record 6-13-0 has made the finals against Marist. If Rider advances to the NCAA D1 tournament, it will be with one of the worst records in NCAA history.

Yes, but we need to remember that these rankings don't take into account this week's activity.

Some teams are idle, some have had bad losses, some have gotten some good wins and some have won and lost. A lot of variables have happened this week that can impact the ratings so they aren't absolute.

Charleston takes the automatic from the SoCon w/ a 1-0 sudden death win over Davidson. You can add Davidson to the at large list for fun- I would think they are a long shot.

    My thoughts:

SOUTH REGION TEAMS IN NCAA TOURNAMENT -- South Region ranking listed first, followed by record, team, honors

    Automatic Bids
    #3, 16-5-1, Charleston -- Southern Conference Champions
#6, 11-6-0, Florida International -- Atlantic Soccer Conference Champions

    At Large Bids
    #1, 18-2-1, UNC Greensboro
    #2, 13-5-1, Wake Forest
    #5, 14-4-0, Duke
    #7T, 12-6-1, South Carolina

    Just Missed
#7T, 10-8-2, North Carolina -- could slide in if five At Large's taken from South
#9, 10-6-2, South Florida -- late slide costs Bulls
    #10, 11-7-1, Charlotte -- up-and-down all year
11-10-1, Davidson -- needed to win conference tourney

I am pretty sure there is no limit on how many teams from the same region or conference can get in.

I know the debate is a little premature, but I would make a slight change to your list:

    ...
    At Large Bids
    #1, 18-2-1, UNC Greensboro
    #2, 13-5-1, Wake Forest
    #5, 14-4-0, Duke
    #7T, 10-8-2, North Carolina

    Just Missed
#7T, 12-6-2, South Carolina -- could slide in if five At Large's taken from South; lost head-to-head against UNC in reg season, and lower strength of schedule
#9, 10-6-2, South Florida -- late slide costs Bulls
    ...

Detroit - Bad loss to Loyola-Chicago late in the season. Conceded 1.4 goals/game overall, 1.9 goals/game in league play (tied for league 5th). 3rd place team in the Horizon League during the regular season with losses to both co-champions UW-M and Butler. Your pick, but I'd be hard pressed to think they'd get a look.
