To be honest I'd rather try to win the EL over getting blasted in the knock out round by Madrid or Bayern.

    Mmmm I dunno.

I'd rather dare to dream , regardless of how unrealistic it is.

The EL would be extremely tough/gruelling as well which could affect our league form.

You have a better chance of winning the Powerball than Roma have of winning the CL. I'm with @whill4 I think the EL is our best chance at a real trophy.

I don't mean winning the CL ... the options were advancing past the group vs going into Europa.

I'd rather advance from the group.

The EL would be supremely taxing on our team. It takes a toll.

Even United , with all their resources, essentially had to give up on the league to continue to compete in it.

This years team is much deeper. Man U didn't win their league because they waste money beyond reason. With the money they spent the last 4 years they could have fielded 2 separate teams; one for EL/CL and one for EPL and competed in both.

Also, we aren't going to win the league with or without European play that's why EL is our best chance at a real trophy.

Serie A has gotten much more difficult , I don't think we should assume , even with the extra Champions League spot, that it won't be a dog fight to get a top 4 position this year. I'm not considering the Scudetto.

Also , getting exposure in the Champions League against big clubs has a measurable affect on our brand. You want to be getting that television exposure as a club like Roma.

We need the high profile matches outside of Serie A.

I agree, I just think winning the EL will give us more exposure than getting curb stomped by Bayern. Winning the EL would get us an automatic CL spot and more exposure by playing in the Super Cup.

Nah , you know as well as I do , that the Europa won't do that. And no one cares about the Super Cup.

I understand the thirst for a trophy , and if we end up in the Europa , absolutely , you go for it.

But, the Champions League is the world stage , it is the single best way of growing our club (and our league) in all aspects at the moment.

Guys NOBODY cares about EL. It ain't gonna bring us squat. Go ask Sevilla how their worldwide fanbase has increased...because of EL...you'll get crickets.

Yeah, I also want a trophy but when it comes to brand building nobody who isn't already a big fan of one of the clubs involved gives a shit about EL. The money you get is also laughable compared to CL.

I'd love for us to try for EL to win some damn thing, but you know Italian squads. It's hard enough to get them to try for games that matter.

Group isn't awful. We may not advance, but we can go kicking and screaming.

We probably need to win the first two matches really. Do that and we have a great chance of progressing. A win and a draw and 4pts would only be ok. 3pts or less and we can start looking forward to the EL at best.

    Hey all Roma fans,

I suppose you could advance, if you draw Atletico at home, beat Chelsea at home, and beat Qarabag both home and away comfortably. Seriously it seems like not a hard task, but with Roma you never know if they can or not.
