Yeah to me the story is all about home v away. They're super consistent: win at home against most comers, lose away to whoever.
This entire league is garbage away from home. It is one of the things that I think detracts from the league. The Galaxy (a fairly awful team) are the only ones with 5 wins away from home-oddly enough they have only 1 win at home. It's that bad.
What a steal Jack Elliott has been. Incredibly agile for his size. Good feat and a knack for bailing out his team when the keeper has wandered from goal. Honestly, I would love to deadlift with him in the offseason. Squats and milk, etc... McCarthy is proving the haters wrong yet again. The same intensity that got him concussed on a long throw is what has bolstered his improvement. Soccer mirrors life; If you believe in yourself and work hard and love what you do, success tends to follow. I am rooting for him at this point, he has earned our support.
Does not compute. I don't know what's funnier. Them misspelling the name, or your misspelling of their mistake.
The scarf. It was designed, made (knitted?), boxed, shipped, and handed out on the concourse without anyone noticing or stopping OR Continental did catch the mistake and just said "May as well give them out anyway, WTF will we do with 1000 incorrectly spelled soccer scarves?"
Sure it does, just not to you. Lawyers deal in gray areas, architects deal in absolutes. It was a lot of fun sitting in the Owner's Suite. I definitely would recommend it to any fan to experience once. After I was informed that I had been selected, my STH seats remained active. I offerered them around (including on here) and nobody wanted them so I sold them on Stubhub. That alone is a decent benefit. When we got to the stadium, we picked up the tickets at the Suite and Club entrance. The "tickets" were enormous laminated placards on a shoelace lanyard. Most people in the Suite were wearing them around their necks but I chose not to. Once inside the stadium, fans were directed to take the elevator to the club level. We then walked around the upper walkway of the stadium to Suite 310. At no time from the time we entered the stadium until we entered the Suite did anyone check our tickets. Upon entering the Suite, the attendant introduced herself to us. (She did not check our tickets or confirm that we were in the right place.) She was not wearing anything to distinguish her as an employee. She was wearing jeans, a short sleeved shirt and sandals, which I found odd considering she was involved with food service. The Suite is immediately above the seating area on the side of the benches at midfield. There are two rows of traditional seats. Behind that is a bar with bar stools. In the Suite there was a large table, a TV and a counter. There was a private bathroom with flowers. Non-alcoholic drinks were in a mini-fridge. Beers and wines were on the counter. When we arrived, there were three kinds of hummus, crackers, a large cheese plate, a fruit plate and a veggies and dip platter. The beers were Victory, Yards, Modelo and a couple of domestics. The wine was Chadds Ford. Several fans arrived that clearly were STHs. Everyone was respectful. From what I could tell, there was only one "VIP" who was being coddled. A few minutes before the game started, Carl Cherkin and Dave Debusschere arrived and chatted up the "VIP". Just as the game started, Earnie and Chris arrived. They were introduced to the "VIP" and then took seats in the second row of the seats on the aisle. Some fans introduced themselves to Earnie and Chris but they did not actively interact with the fans at all. Just before the game started @Boyertown2003 walked past. I introduced myself to him and we chatted for a couple of minutes. I thanked him for his coverage and told him how much I enjoy his podcast. By that point I had consumed 4 beers so I'm not sure how coherent I was. Just as the game started, more food was delivered: lobster perogies, cheesesteak sliders and cheesesteak Stromboli. The perogies were really delicious. The view from the box was excellent. I usually sit on the other side of the stadium and much lower so the different perspective was nice. There was plenty of room in the box and the fans mostly kept to themselves. I had nice conversations with two couples: one couple were STHs who were active with the SOBs. The other couple was a guy who worked for Comcast and his wife. They got free tickets from Comcast. From the way he told it, the tickets were up for grabs and nobody seemed to want them. I was behind Earnie and Chris for almost the entire game and it was interesting to watch them watch the game. I could not hear what they were saying but they spoke to each other constantly and gesticulated a lot. Chris vigorously chewed gum the entire game. They watched the game much like a fan might. They cheered the goals, threw up their arms at non-calls and provided (what appeared to be) running commentary. After the first goal, I got Chris' attention and said something along the lines of, "That was pretty but we still need a Number 10." Chris heard me but didn't say anything in response. At halftime, Earnie and Chris left. They came back just as the second half was starting. Two large trays of various desserts were put out at halftime. When the goal was overturned by VAR, Earnie pumped his fist. They left the Suite around the 87th minute. Jay Sugarman did not attend nor did anyone from the ownership group to my knowledge. No Union staff member welcomed or greeted the 7 groups of STHs in the box. Overall it was a fun experience. The free food and drinks were great, the view was excellent and it certainly was a more luxurious way to watch the game. Although I did not interact with Earnie or Chris, I found it interesting to watch them watch the game. I would highly recommend checking out this experience should it become available again.
Chadds Ford is nice for what it is, but yeah the wine itself is just okay.. I assume most wineries aren't looking to partner with sports teams. (I know chadds ford made some sort of deal with the Phils)
