So I subscribe to Sirius and I'm listening to Counter Attack, the show JP was on. He didn't bring up ACM, he was asked directly about ACM and their spending and what they were doing. As usual the press takes it completely out of context.
Monchi says that the club is working on a variety of possibilities for RW, one of which is Mahrez, but the others have remained unknown to the press. He adds that we have made two offers for Mahrez and the club believes the second offer is the right one and we've stopped there.
Monchi said similar words when we negotiating for Defrel. And Mahrez is not starting for Leicester today.
monchi basically said the latest offer mahrez is the last, as he waits for leicester to respond hes evaluating other. mahrez is not the only option, rather the only one that went public.
#Mahrez is our target. #Manolas is with us…at this time. #ASRoma #Roma https://t.co/J9Gpr1BiDG pic.twitter.com/MUOHbLdTW3— AS ROMA 360 (@asroma360) July 28, 2017

I'm beginning to have a feeling that this Mahrez dream is not going to come true. This has dragged on for a while and we've made zero progress lately. Leicester have stayed firm on their 40-45m evaluation despite everything. If Monchi's words are to be taken at face value, that 35m is the highest offer we are prepared to make and apparently it hasn't been accepted. This could only mean one thing. I hope our other targets aren't too far off in quality. Surely we can sign a good player for 35m, even in today's crazy market.
I think it was the opportunity to get a Mahrez level talent that had us comfortable spending 35. An alternative would have a lower budget.
Should have went all in for Beenardeschi in the beginning of the market. He went for 40 to Juve but I'm sure they would have sold him cheaper to us
Do you think Monchi is bluffing about "other options"? Hopefully one of them is not keeping Iturbe... I read somewhere that Roma would likely be willing to wait until the EPL starts since no other teams have any real interest in Mahrez. Arsenal keeps popping up in the news, but I think they have a higher priority target anyway.
Hi everyone. If Mahrez deal does not go through, I believe a player like Jesus Corona from Porto would be a great alternative. I am guessing he would be cheaper and could offer a lot to our attack. Still, I am aware that he would have to improve on his passing, but I think that is fixable. Thoughts?
You are right. I thought it was possible as I read de argentinian Lucas Alario was rumored to be an option, but of course he has an italian passport. Bummer.

I'm hoping that LC and Mahrez made a deal early this summer: train well, behave yourself and let us negotiate a sale in peace, and we promise we will sell you by the end of the market. The over the top professionalism from a player desperate to leave and a coach that highlights it on a daily basis seems unusual to me [emoji12]
They're still butt hurt about the whole Salah episode. If anything they would have wanted 50m from us.
