Agreed. The RB L board has decided to make Keita an example and also save face - so I think they will eat the 30m loss because they can and lose him next year. He's not going to be a happy player there this year. Nor is Forsberg.
Man... having to wait for a player like Keita is really excruciating. It puts extra pressure on every fixture this season.
The Reds are reportedly ready to offer a £75m package to Leipzig - with £40m in cash being paid up front for Keita. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...news-Naby-Keita-75m-bid-RB-Leipzig-gossip-LFC
Word on the street is the Keita deal/ money was just a smoke screen and the real target was always VvD.....personally I don't agree this to be true as there was always a possibility of RB saying yes to a 75mill bid The Coutinho interest has reached its peak this week which leads to the question Anyone happy to see Coutinho leave if Keita arrives?
Unequivocally - NO. We really need to capitalize on ALL the good factors we have for the first time in 7-8 years and hold onto our top players - the Cancers are gone, new stand and revenue, debt has been wiped out, commercial revenues are huge, WE HAVE KLOPP, and we have CL footy (I hope). We need to build not destroy.
Ok. Coutinho has a newly signed 5 year deal with no release clause. He is settled with a young family. He realizes he can be the man for us or a water carrier for Barca. And the owners say no sale at any price. Keita is a funny one. I think we thought they would cave because the kid wants to leave and can next year due to a buy out clause. They didn't. But so many Liverpool supporters seem to think it's a sign of our weakness if we can't force them to take £70 million for him. And they blame FSG for not spending although if someone won't take your money it's hard to spend. Plus I bet only 1 in 20 LFC supporters could pick Keita out of a lineup of 5 African players. Or have actually watched him play a whole game. But if we don't get him we will be relegated, FSG must be "out", and the Apocalypse is at hand. I do hope VVD goes through.
This, many times over. The club will survive if Keita doesn't come, you know. We do need a better centre-half than Lovren, however, whoever that may turn out to be. It looks as if van Dijk will be that man and I suspect that Southampton must have promised him something (although we ham-fistedly sabotaged the auction.) My only worry about van Dijk's is that the case for him (from what I've seen) is mostly based on numbers but let's recall that Lovren's numbers at Southampton were also impressive.
In case we do actually get Keita, does the fact no other team seems to be interested in him worry anyone else?
Yup, I've wondered about our being Keita's only suitors too. Liverpool bid = £70 Million; competing bids/interest = 0. What's wrong with this picture?
I thought I've read murmurs of other clubs wanting him too, I think that he just prefers to come here (that's so nice to say, finally) so the bulk of it is about us.
Not a damn thing is wrong - we were brilliant and tapped him up nice and early - he wants to play for Klopp and the other teams that could possibly afford him have been spending wildly on other areas that they need (like LOL Citeh with 140m on Fullbacks). We just made a great identification of a player early (well early enough to trust he can make it here) and got the ball started - just unfortunately RB L have decided to make the situation impossible.
I assumed it was "kay-ta" or "kee-ta" or "kay-i-ta". never thought it would be "kite-ah". mind you I've never heard his name spoken.
