He did not. Here is a list of every game he played and his position. He was a CF or ST. They mostly played a 352 that year and he was up top. https://www.transfermarkt.com/gregoire-defrel/leistungsdaten/spieler/163222/plus/0?saison=2014
I wouldn't take it like that, Rudi wouldn't mean harm towards us. One just won England though and is looking to win the CL, while Roma are trying to fight for CL places next season, so I mean, thus is life.
Yes in his last year he really started to make an impact in the centre but previously he was wide. I watched them a number of times for betting and he always played wide right or found himself there setting up the striker or being dangerous himsrlf with his speed and trickery. He stood out for this reason. It's sassuolo where he has continued to blossom. Pay no attention to his numbers, this is a fool's prediction. He is a fine all rounded player.
Considering the hard-on the Roma scouts get for South American talent, they absolutely better have been interested in Gabriel Jesus before City got him. They absolutely must have been following Thiago Maia (moved to Lille... I mean really? Roma weren't around to offer better?) Matheus Jesus - probably the best young SA talent in the world - just moved to a crap team in Portugal. Definitely as good as some Roma midfielders already. Something is really, really iffy regarding the scouts here. Usually when you target lesser nations, it's because you know you can get their very best talent for a lot cheaper than elsewhere. To be shopping in a wholesale place, and to go for the slightly more expensive, vastly insuperior players is disturbing. Hopefully they're on Wendel of Fluminense & Arthur of Gremio (!!!). Highly suggest Youtubeing all these guys if you love 'the next generation' and seeing if they succeed.
The Brazil league doesn't compare to European style easily and they take time to mature.. see Gerson. Argentina I believe is a better league to have interest in because of how tough the style of play is.
With Monchi around, scouting should be the least of our worries. There are like a hundred variables that need to be considered when buying a player. Talent is obviously an important one, but it's just a single variable. For example, you also need to consider the following: 1) Style of play (a player might be talented, but does his style of play suit our team?) 2) Position of need (are we already well stocked in a certain position?) 3) Personality of the player (is the player a wild character ala Balotelli, Cassano? Would he be worth the trouble?) 4) Personal preferences of the player (not everyone wants to play in Italy. All things equal, some would prefer to play in Spain or Portugal for example which offer better cultural & linguistic fits for South Americans) 5) The stage at which the player is. Is he willing to wait and develop further with the reserves? Expecting to get rotation minutes in the main team? Looking to be a starter? 6) You also have to consider the connections of the player's agent. Agents generally try to work with clubs/coaches with whom they have a great working relationship with. To take your example of Thiago Maia. Now I personally don't know the player, and won't judge his talent. But look at the situation. Roma already have De Rossi at this position. And they just bought Gonalons, who is proven in a decent European league and has a wealth of European Cup (CL/EL) experience. Where would Thiago fit in this scenario? Obviously he's not going to get a look in for another 2 years atleast. And also, Thiago seems to have played a lot of games in Brazil, so I'm assuming that when he decided to come to Europe, he would expect to get a shot at a starting place and not play with the reserves.
Hi guys, I', new here. Made an excel about the teams FFP situation, just don't know if it's totally correct. Don't know if anybody can take a look at it and help correcting mistakes. Thak for your help (, sorry for the grammar...) https://kephost.com/image/0zFI
Maia left for 14m, doubt even Monchi would bid that much in a position we are absolutely stacked in. Matheus Jesus was signed by Santos as his replacement, no? like yesterday Wendel is interesting but again he's more like Allan of Napoli which is not something we neccesarily need but Arthur... He's reeaaaaaaallllyyy good. Never loses the ball, also a midfielder but he's the most offensive minded of the group
One report claims that Monchi met with Marrotta regarding Manolas, he told him Roma value the player at 40M but are not considering selling him right now.

From England: #Mahrez willing to take pay cut to join #Roma https://t.co/gKTnKqlWl0— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) July 17, 2017 This sounds unbelievable, his wages are not even that high. The article claims he is on 100K pounds a week currently, which equals 3.26M net. This the same or less than Salah's wages with Roma.
I can't imagine he'd take a 40% pay cut. I thought I read somewhere that EPL reports their salaries gross and in Italy its net? That would make much more sense.

hmm.. interesting. Honestly I would like to see them bring in a veteran LB. We have a few youngsters there now.
I know we want to elevate Emerson to our 1st choice LB, but this makes me a little nervous for two reasons: 1. Who knows how Emerson will play after his ACL injury. I'm sure he'll return to top form, but there's a chance he won't. 2. The only system he has functioned well in has been one with three CBs and him as a LWB. Barreca would be expensive as a backup, but I still don't know how I feel about Emerson starting at LB.
I'd bet on this being the difference 100%. Despite having years to get it right, English papers still don't get that Italy reports wages in net. And the source of this paycut story is an LCFC blog.
I don't know how Emerson will be when he gets back from an ACL tear. Before the injury he was a very good LB and I have little doubt he wouldn't have been excellent if a few years. With ACL tears you just never know. He might play great out of the gate, it might take him a few months or he might never be the same.
Yea, I saw that and I think that would be a great choice if they can get him to lower his wages a bit.
