Started the 2nd half of a friendly and kept a clean sheet: The #Hertha XI for the second half: Klinsmann, Rekik, Darida, Kalou, Duda, Langkamp, Mittelstädt, Ibisevic, Haraguchi, Maier, Dardai— Hertha BSC (EN) (@HerthaBSC_EN) July 16, 2017 FT: No goals in the second half, meaning #Hertha secure a 2-0 win over @fccarlzeissjena! #hahohe pic.twitter.com/4IWDPiceZD— Hertha BSC (EN) (@HerthaBSC_EN) July 16, 2017
If Kuntz was still at Kaiserslautern I bet he would have looked at there, but there problem is they are still a mess in the 2 Bundesliga. They have the best goalkeeper coach in Germany.
Seems Klinsi Jr. picked up an injury already, something to do with the patellar tendon of his left knee. In fact it's something of a problem for Hertha, as all three keepers are injured at the moment: Klinsmann, Kraft, Jarstein: Alle Hertha-Keeper verletzt!
Sounds like tendonitis, probably out for a few weeks. Bummer for him because he had a chance to get experience with the other keepers out. Good that it's wasn't a patellar tendon tear...those can be career threatening.
The Hertha president states that Klinsi Jr. and the other sons of ex-pros have a harder time, since their names bring a burden that other young players are not saddled with: Hertha-Präsident: Klinsmann Jr. & Co. haben es schwerer
I was surprised to learn that David Beckham's oldest quit the game at 16 and the 2nd son quit at age 13, even though they had the door opened for them at Arsenal.
Having a prominent name will help you get started, but in the end you will never be good enough. Being a merely decent or even good player will still let you be seen as a failure, bcause weren't as good as your father. See for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephan_Beckenbauer
Nice story about why Young Jurgen chose Herta Berlin over MLS sides. BTW will this thread be elevated up to the Yanks Abroad Forum?
"Fundamentally, he's an optimistic person not scared to take a risk. What he has already achieved in America has not happened by chance. He could have signed for every MLS team, they all approached him." hahaha love it
I have no problem rooting for Jonathan Klinsmann. I can separate my thoughts on his father from my thoughts on him, I can even understand if Jurgen overrates his own son, but I think we need to keep in mind that Jonathan didn't even play well at Cal last season, and he was shaky at best for the U-20's this cycle. To act like he's so far above college soccer and MLS is disrespectful to college soccer and to the top domestic league in our country.
That makes no sense. Jonathan would have had to enter the SuperDraft to sign with MLS and the league thought he wasn't good enough to offer a Generation Adidas contract to this past offseason. Which would have been the only way to come into MLS since he wasn't a college senior and nobody holds his homegrown rights. It's possible some showed some interest after the U20 WC, but every club? LOL
I believe the quotes are from an article written a writer for BILD. The author and/or editor likely don't know MLS and it's many mechanisms for player acquisition.
It's from an interview in Kicker. It's basically all direct quotes from Klinsmann, without editorial comment (only short questions). http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...cht-heiss-auf-sofortiges-neues-abenteuer.html
