No way! Yes I know Mexico beat Croatia but for me nothing beats the Brasil vs Mexico game in Forteleza,Brasil. Mexico had a good amount of fans there at that game and almost beat Brasil in their house on their soil against a Neymar and Thiago Silva and Hulk if only Herrera would have started Chicharito that game I'm sure Mexico would of came out with a win. Props for those that were in that stadium for that game I wish I could of been there in attendance. There's not too many teams out there that can draw or even beat Brasil on their soil and Mexico has proved they can hang with the best. I have ran into some Brasilians that are burned up about that game cause they felt there team is inferior to Mexico. lol
Croatia were running their mouths like they were the likes of France or Netherlands. I would have picked the Croatia match if I had to choose.
I had a good feeling Mexico was gonna beat Croatia. No disrespect to the Croatia team but there strength is midfield and defense they hardly had any attack force. Brasil's team was solid all around even their bench was decent.
One in San Diego for the 1996 Gold Cup against Guatemala in Group Stage (I dare people to call Claudio Suarez slow as molasses if they'd seen him zip up and down the flanks all game long, though why he was running up and down flanks chasing attackers as a central defender puzzles me or just some weird Bora tactics) and another one only bought ticket,(in early 2006 for friendly vs S. Korea, pre-2006 WC with the Oswaldo brain freeze moment) I bought the ticket through internet, but traffic to get off of 110 freeway for the Coliseum took too long and didn't make the game because I spent the first and some of the second half looking for parking, finally decided "eff this" and left. I have to think many of the people trying get off the freeway right before kickoff didn't even have tickets coming to the stadium because stadium was mostly full already at start of game from what friend who did get inside said, supposedly after the game local sports segment said something about most tickets being sold before match, or maybe just scalpers.
Friend bought tix for Brasil - Méx at face value at the airport upon arrival from other fans. Said that suprisingly there were tix to be had if you looked. A lot of people that bought Mexico "team specific tix" for the group stage but then had friends drop out.
First time was when I was younger at the cotton bowl. Defeated Bolivia something like 5-0 Saw them during the lavolpe era at the old cowboys stadium, boring as shit game, think won in the final moments but I don't remember correctly And i watched Gio clown Brazil back when chepo was still the one in the Arlington cowboys stadium. I've seen more but don't remember them all. TBH my favorite soccer games to watch live were the super group Dallas Cup games. Watching the Ajax academy team in the mid nineties beat UNAM 5-0 changed the way I perceived the beautiful game.
