[emoji13] [emoji13] Football transfer rumours: Gianluigi Donnarumma to Manchester United? https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...united?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard
Football players are paid to perform on the pitch, not to be happy. And as long as a certain behavior does not spill over and start affecting others, while it's not ideal, of course, that's not the bottom line, unlike how they perform as their primary duties as athletes...
Ronaldo interested in a United return, but they are wary of a long, drawn out saga (and believe he'll ultimately remain with Real anyway). www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10919653/cristiano-ronaldo-interested-in-manchester-united-return Another aspect to take into account when speculating about a Ronaldo return to Manchester, is his relationship with Jose, which was not necessarily the most pleasant when he left according to reports...
Time to be planning ahead at Valencias age.... phase him out. I am not the best judge of full backs and he is a bit erratic but I really like the look of Semedo. That said I've only watched 3/4 full games of him lol.
Semedo is the type of RB, like Aurier or Meunier, that is absolutely worth going after, if the opportunity is there. Valencia has had a very good season but he'll be 32 in August and surely, a decline can be expected soon (if not this season, probably the one after that). If United are looking at Semedo, it makes sense.
If we're in for Semedo, then we must be interested in a LB. If we're willing to spend money on a future RB than surely we're looking for a LB that needs a start ASAP.
It's interesting that you keep on saying that when nothing indicates that Jose or the club have given up on Shaw. And everything suggests that he is working his tail off to be ready for the coming season (latest reports have him back at Carrington working). This season may be his last chance with Jose, but he'll get the opportunity ahead of everyone else...
Madrid have never done a deal like Mbappe t Yes. We rarely write off such sums so soon into a united career. I'm with Ashur. He will get one final season as a chance.
Nothing indicates that Jose has given up on Shaw? Are you being serious? He was largely the third choice LB this season behind Blind and Darmian. He's been hurt for the better part of three years now and even when he was healthy this season he was often left off the bench. There were even a handful of games when he was selected behind Ashley fvcking Young! Jose tried his Miki motivation on Shaw and by all account Shaw didn't respond. Am I saying that Shaw should be written off? No. But what in his time at United shows you that he can or should be counted on as our starting LB?
I'm dead serious. This past season is over and the circumstances will be completely different. As mentioned time and again, Shaw for starters should finally be fully (football) fit for the first time since his injury. Then, and more importantly, it stands to reason that Shaw now will have a much better idea of what Jose expects of him and he'll focus on improving in those areas. And the bottom line is simply that if Jose did not plan on giving Shaw a real chance this coming season, he would have sent him packing. And bringing another guy to potentially take his place is not the solution either. But as I already said, this is surely it for him. If he doesn't produce this season, he'll be done.
It sounds like in general you guys agree with me but think he should be given the chance to start again this season anyway. I have to disagree. He's had three seasons to be the starter and was unfit the first season mostly due to him starting the year out of shape. The second season he started great until his leg break. Then last season he struggled with form and fitness (not related to his leg break). I can't see how we can justify handing him a starting role when in three years he's shown nothing but one small flash of ability to justify giving him the role. Also, @Ashur mentions that he should be fully fit this season but it's not like the leg break was his only injury issue in his career. His only managed 32 league appearances in three years at the club, mostly due to injuries. Since joining the club he's had an injury to his hamstring (twice), ankle tendons, groin, foot, and of course the leg break. So it's not like he has one reoccurring injury to get over. He has a history of muscular injuries. Again, I'm not saying give up on him but we need to buy someone that can compete with him for the starting job. Don't spend big money, but a replacement is needed. We can't afford another year of Blind at LB. Martial and our attack will suffer greatly.
Is Goretzka not set for Bayern after all? If he's still available then I'm surprised we aren't sniffing around.
Because despite everything you said, which has some truth to it, Shaw is still just a 21yr old, with potential to him. That is pretty much a fact. Also have a feeling that LB will be a position that will be overloaded with options going into the season. Shaw should clearly be the first guy in line, but Darmian will probably stick around for cover and I get that you don't care for him personally as a player, but he's clearly got Jose's trust now to do a job at least defensively and that is still what matters to him first and foremost. Blind might be another to be an option, but my preference would be for Jose to bring into the first team the likes of CBJ or Riley (I'd want both personally) as these guys have serious potential both defending and going forward. LB is definitely a position we can hold off for another year as far as I'm concerned, especially with the more pressing needs at other positions.
Manchester United want Cristiano Ronaldo but Jose Mourinho knows he must press on without the 'circus' http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-mourinho-morata-perisic-de-gea-a7797641.html
