Trevor McEachron has decided to sit out the entire season, however, he will be ready to train with the team in the spring and will be back next season. Trevor is a hardworker and I'm sure he'll be back stronger and better than before. The only reason he wasn't able to make his comeback this season is because he ran into a few complications in the summer with a surgery, but he has recovered from that. I've talked to him recently, and he is dedicated to regaining his All-American form. Many of you may not know the extent of his injury, but he tore his ACL, PCL, and LCL.
Cameron made his season debut today, coming off the bench in Michigan's scoreless draw with Oakland. http://mgoblue.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=16067 While that isn't a big deal in a statistical sense, or even in terms of his impact on Michigan's season, it's big news for the draft because it means he isn't red-shirting this year and will be available in the draft in January. Even with his injury, this guy is a legit first rounder. A team that needs immediate impact may not take him because he may take a while to continue to shake off the post-injury rust. But, for a team that has some depth and can afford to wait a bit for him to continue to round back into form, this would be a great pick. I could see a team like United or the Wizards who will be picking a little later in the draft taking this guy. (Of course, United needs to trade into the first round, but that's another story altogether.)
I'd bet money you'll see several MLS coaches at the Big Ten Tournament, which starts next Thursday in Ann Arbor, in large part to see how his leg is doing. They'll want to establish a baseline that they can use to compare his progress at the combine. He
The HPI database has been updated for this week.Stars of Tomorrow Sorry it's a day late. I also want to point out, someone has e-mailed me about Jeff Larentowicz a defender from Brown. I got his Career goals and assists way wong, extreamly wrong. Although it doesn't show for this week because I hadn't checked my e-mail for a week, Jeff should have 7g 6a for 20p in his career. Thanks to everyone who has emailed me about the database, you've made it much better as a result. Bad news on Knox Cameron playing again, OSU has to go up there this Saturday. ******** Meatchicken.
From the University of Wisconsin I would keep an eye on Jed Hohlbein and Nick Van Sicklen as seniors. Jed's younger brother Aaron has been in the U-20 camp on occasion so I would suggest we keep an eye on him. Goalkeeper Eric Hanson is very good. Don't know if he's MLS quality but he is very good.
Our favorite D-III player finished the regular season in style, scoring a hat-trick in Colorado College's 3-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan. Patrick McGinnis now has 38 goals and 8 assists in 19 games. I had to use my calculator, but that breaks down to two goals per game, which is a great average, anyway you stack it. At the very least, it will get this kid invited to the combine in January. After that, who knows. But, if Khary Stephenson can go from D-III to likely starting in MLS Cup, I'm not going to rule a kid out just because he doesn't play D-I ball. BTW, McGinnis led CC to a 16-3-1 record, a mark that earned them an at-large bid (they're an independent and thus can't get an automatic bid) to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. Tomorrow CC is @Whitworth College in Washington state in a first round match.
Wow, this is great news for him and CC. Hopefully he can get in with someone in MLS. Colorado would be the obvious choice, but I'd just like to see a prolific scorer grow up in MLS. No more 12 goals in a season. I want 30! I haven't had a chance to update. Will soon, if work doesn't kill me.
McGinnis would definitely be a starter on any D-1 team in the country, I am certain. He is ridiculously good. Of course, his stats wouldn't be quite as high, but I bet he'd be a leading scorer in D-1 as well. This guy's for real, and I really hope an MLS team gives him a shot, because his unbelievable work ethic combined with his natural talent are enough to make him capable of succeeding at any level. Hopefully he'll score in the playoffs and they can go at least a couple rounds deep, and then he'll be even more likely to get a little attention.
Seems like this is the perfect time for him to be showing off. With expansion next year there really isn't a better time for a lower division player to get some recognition and more importantly make an impact on the professional level.
hey socalsoccerfan, you sure do stand by McClung, even when hes having a nightmare of a season. wouldnt you agree? he already had his spot on the bruins taken, what about his 20's?
Re: MLS College Scouting [R]-James Twellman rumor has it that james twellman has torn his ACL ... is this true? if it is, that sux...what a player! I have seen this kid play this year and he looked really good...definitely ready for the MLS thats for sure.... m. broisea
The HPI database has been updated for this week.Stars of Tomorrow Per a request added Nick Van Sicklen as a forward. I took out Nigi Adogwa. Also the Hermann semifinalist list has come out and that has replaced the watch list. There were 4 players that were not on the watch list, who made the semi list, Jason Garey(F, Jr, Maryland), Gonzalo Segares(D, Sr, VCU), Kevin Goldthwaite(M, Sr, ND), and Brad Guzan(GK, So, SC). Players who were on the initial watch list still have stars by their names.
Myshap, thanks for putting this up here. Unfortunatly I have not had two minutes to rub together to do my updating. Don't know if I'll make it this week. I might defer to an end of season mass update before the superdraft.
UCLA finished their regular season with non-conference wins over San Diego 4-0 on Thursday and UC Davis 3-1 on Saturday at Drake Stadium. Coach Salcedo worked in what seemed like his entire roster in the second half of Thursday's game while playing a smaller core against UC Davis. Seniors Ahmed Khalil, Aaron Lopez, and Mike Enfield were honored before the start of Saturday's "Senior Night" game with a brief ceremony. It will be interesting to see how the team does come tournament time. Players on the watchlist: Chad Barrett - is in good form right now scoring goals playing up front as usual. Mike Enfield - dropped back to a midfield position against UC Davis with Khalil starting up top with Barrett. Probably just a "senior night" thing. With the ball at his feet, just toys with defenders. Aaron Lopez - strong D in the center. Good strong shot too. Played more of defensive mid spot Saturday with Ianni dropping back. Kiel McClung - subbed in at right mid for Kamani Hill during second half. Showed good skills, passing, and control. Not as fast as the other UCLA mids but very solid with the ball. Marvell Wynne still playing at right back. Kamani Hill - very active as usual on the right side but first touch seemed to get away from him a little. Started both games. Saturday, played a horrible long square ball into the center of the defensive third that was picked off. Coach Salcedo was not pleased. He came off shortly after that, replaced by McClung.
The HPI database has been updated for this week.Stars of Tomorrow Last update heading into the NCAA Tourny.
Pat McGinnis of Colorado College scored in their first round NCAA game, but they lost 2-1, had a missed penalty by another player, and 2 goals taken away by the officials. Too bad he didn't get to go deep into the tournament and get more press, but he's still the best NCAA division 3 player and would likely be an excellent division 1 player. I think he's good enough to become an MLS starter within 3 years, and prolific goal scorer within 5. That is, if he's given the chance. I bet he wants to do it, but I don't know what steps he's taking to get there.
Round one of the tourney is done with Day 1. Some big teams go down. [result]Duke beats Costal Carolina 3-0. Shuts out one of the more offensive teams of the year.[/result] [result]Cal takes out Santa Clara who didn't have the best season.[/result] [result]Michigan over Akron. Go Blue![/result] [result]Michigan State loses to Tulsa. State sucks![/result] Monday I'll update the lists for end of season and then also tourney 1st round.

Are you guys talking about Sean McGinnis from CC? I played against him in high school and saw him play this June in a USL game against St. Louis. He had a hat trick. Do you really think he could do well in MLS? I respect Sandon's opinion a lot. That would be sweet if he could make it. He's sort of a box player, very direct, good close skills, and hungry for goals. Not an amazing athlete and not amazing skill but lots and lots of goals.
I certainly think he deserves a shot at MLS. If he can make it through the combine and turn some heads I'm sure he'll get drafted or picked up post draft.
