Arjen Robben has refused to go on a vacation after the end of the season & is training hard at Munich for the upcoming NT matches. FC Bayern is posting pictures & videos of Robben training like mad to prepare for the NT. He's had a long season, so don't know how good he will be in the NT matches !

  6. Looks like he'has set his mind on getting into the last WC he probably can play.
    He's on a mission.:cool::thumbsup:

Robben can destroy France on his own if he is in a good mood.

Rekik will join Hertha Berlin according to Bild.

  9. Ake on his way out at Chelsea if the rumours are correct. So, bloody idiot, what did your signing for that shit hole bring you compared to less talented players that stayed in our league.

I agree with Dick that Zoet should be the starting keeper for Oranje from now on

Promes is a very good player. Shoudn't be playing in Russia. Not a bad win over Morocco which is a decent team. Would have likely been better without the red card. Looks like Dick is interested in the 4-2-3-1 and he had an interesting set-up. In a real match I wonder if he'll continue with something like this:

Karsdorp - de Vrij - BMI - Blind
    Wijnaldum - Strootman
    Robben - Promes - Memphis
    Janssen

Or, perhaps Sneijder in the middle with Promes on the left, though I do believe Promes does a lot of his best work centrally.

^^^^Wijnaldum is wasted in a 4-2-3-1 as shown.

Nice win but only 30 % of possession against a moroccan team where players were fasting is not very reassuring.

Janssen had a pretty solid game upfront, he is definitely a different player when he wears the oranje shirt. Promes had a lot of bad touches actually but I always like his teamwork, Depay was good.

Toornstra good, Vilhena ok, I did not like De Roon. His passing ability seems to be crap. Ake did quite well for his first game, playing as LB. He looks very rigid though.

De Ligt has a problem. I think he is excellent at defending on the ground but he is really bad at anticipating and interevening on balls when there's a rebound. That's how he got beaten against Bulgaria and tonight, and I saw it several other times. He doesn't judge balls trajectory good enough.

Only watched the second half. Pretty awful performance by the Dutch. No flow, static. Nothing that indicated this team has turned the corner (not that I expected that with Dick wasn't even in the helmet yet). Thankfully Morocco was equally awful, if not worse. They just pumped the ball to the box, Zoet and the Dutch defenders dealt pretty comfortably most of the time.

Veltman was a suspect for more than one occasion. He's not RB, we all know that. It's beyond me he keeps getting the nod there. He was a lucky boy... Zoet came big to save his bacon after his mistake in controlling the ball, giving possession away, and failing to close down. Promes was the busy man, his movement was generally good. Great assist and could have scored one himself on a difficult volley. I like what I saw from Vilhena. Sat deeper in midfield and chase the ball a lot like a pitbull. No one else worth mentioning. De Ligt got embarrassed, yet again. Well-deserved red card after misjudging the long ball. I bet he felt pretty shitty a the moment after consecutive blunders in two games in his short Oranje career. I hope his confidence is not shot completely.

De Ligt has a long road ahead of him , he's not ready for this level, however there are others in this current Oranje side not worthy imo.

Karsdorp and Tete should be the two first choices for the RB spot, it's undeniable. Janmaat as third choice. Veltman should be nowhere near the NT shirt.

    Football Oranje ratings -

    Jeroen Zoet 6/10

The Oranje captain for the night made some decent saves throughout the game, especially one from Boufal at 0-1. He also claimed several crosses at the end as Morocco piled on the pressure. However, positionally could have been better for the free kick which Morocco netted.

    Joel Veltman 5/10

Was solid enough in the first half, but made some silly mistakes in the second. He presented Boufal with the chance to equalise in the second half and was rescued by Zoet. The experienced member of the defence on the night, but needs to cut out silly errors and provide more going forward. Hasn’t proved he should start over Karsdorp when the Feyenoord star returns.

    Nathan Ake 6/10

The debutante had a good game at left-back. Dealt with the more physical Moroccan’s well in the first half and provided support going forward. Level dipped in the second half and he nearly netted an own goal but solid enough for the Chelsea man, who will be a good option for the position going forward.

    Wesley Hoedt 6.5/10

Not flawless but Hoedt was largely untroubled by the Moroccan attack and battled well with Belhanda despite being on the end of two challenges which should have seen the Moroccan sent off.

    Matthijs de Ligt 5/10

The 17-year-old was having a solid game until he was caught out by a long ball over the top and conceded the foul which saw him sent off. Now two games for Oranje that De Ligt has started and caused big errors. Luckily De Ligt’s red didn’t prevent Netherlands winning, but it begs the question once again on whether he is ready for international football.

    Tonny Vilhena 7.5/10

Have Netherlands found the DM they have been looking for since Nigel de Jong? Vilhena was combative in the midfield, won possession back constantly and provided cover for the defence. His passing could have been better at times but a very impressive performance from the Feyenoord star.

    Jens Toornstra 7/10

Clearly playing with confidence, Toornstra had a good game in the middle and was instrumental to the opening goal with his excellent sweeping ball to Memphis on the left. Won back possession on several occasions in the second half and was always positive on the ball.

    Quincy Promes 8/10

The man of the match for Netherlands. Scored the opening goal and assisted the second with a good cross. Clearly enjoyed the free role in the middle during the first half and continued to impress when switched to the right in the second. A man on fire for Spartak Moscow and a big player for the national team going forward.

    Steven Berghuis 5/10

Started the game looking lively but faded as the first half went on. Substituted at half time for Marten de Roon.

    Memphis Depay 6.5/10

Lovely assist for the opening goal and Memphis made some impressive runs throughout the game. However, his decision making and final passes let him down at times. Was substituted after the red card.

    Vincent Janssen 7.5/10

May not be getting games for Tottenham, but he is always impressive for the national team when he gets his chance. Could have netted twice in the first half and got his goal in the second with a tidy control and finish. Now five goals in 11 caps for the forward and proved once again why he is being chosen over Bas Dost.

    Substitutes

    Marten de Roon 5.5/10

Was brought on at half time, to provide some extra cover for the defence and made some good tackles and had some tidy touches. Nothing spectacular and got himself yellow carded before the end.

    Nick Viergever 5/10

Came on after Matthijs de Ligt was sent off and helped the defence see out the win.

    Bas Dost 5/10

Came on in the 73rd minute and won a few headers. Didn’t really have much time to make an impact

    Wesley Sneijder 5.5/10

Was given fifteen minutes towards the end to earn his 129th cap and is now only one behind record holder Edwin van der Sar. Played an excellent pass to Promes late on which the winger nearly netted.

Considering the team is playing three friendly games ( Luxemburg home is a 100 % win) in order to prepare the last crucial games for the WC 2018, the squad sucks.

Look at the LB options : Blind, Viergever and Ake. Three players that can't go forward. Why didn't he call some attacking LB's among Zeegelaar, PVA, Willems...Wouldnt cost anything.

Winger options as well. I want Depay and Promes to play 90 minutes every game considering the subs are Berghuis and Lens. Two players that nobody wants to see here I guess. The first one is proving game after game that he isn't NT material and the second one is old and not exciting (anymore). He could have called Elia or Babel, they're not less good than Lens atm and that would give one more option.

The lack of winger options is disturbing anyway. In one year we lost Narsingh and El Ghazi who are sub in weak clubs now. Kishna as well.
Bergwijn and Kluivert would get a call as soon as they start 10 games in a row with their clubs I guess.

  20. Conclusion from the ratings of the players: more Feyenoord, better Oranje. Louis van Gaal knew that and almost made the final.
The defense from left to right should be all with Feyenoord experience.
    Midfield too, get Clasie in.
    Attack Robben/Berghuis-Jansen-Elia/Boëtius.
    ready for Russia:cool:

  21. Berghuis didnot play well as the match progressed because of the shit way Veltman played. The players on the right side had to compensate for Veldman's utter ...!

Huh? Wijnaldum can play well there, really, it all depends on how it's employed, though obviously he'd be best suited to the 10 I think Promes is just a better offensive player and has really come into his own.

What would be really fun to see would be Netherlands taking a page out of Monaco's book. They have the players for it. An attacking 4-4-2 that hits with lightning speed. One hold up striker one speedy striker. Attacking wingbacks with strength in defence and two box to box midfielders that can cover a lot of ground. I'd love, love, love to see that. It's basically a 2-4-4 that presses only in their own half.

Karsdorp - de Vrij - van Dijk - Willems
    Robben - Wijnaldum - Strootman - Promes
    Janssen - Memphis

That would be something beautiful I think. But anyway, just dreaming. It'll likely stay the 4-2-3-1 and a defensive type.

I would put Janmaat ahead of Tete based on his WC2014 experience. Yes he made an error against Czecho, but its unfair to define his entire career around that mistake

  24. If de Ligt will be made responsible for his now two utter nuthead mistakes like Janmaat was for that one, while having played extremely well before in the WC and qualifiers, it wouldnot look good for de Ligt.
