Merte has always been great in a lower line where the defence plays quite narrow

The he can dominate centrally and its hard to expose him

Indeed i can recall Germany played a hybrid 3CB system at times with him in it.

The main reason he got dropped is they wanted to play a high line and play out from the back.

    That's when he gets exposed

I was thinking that as I watched the game. Arsenal were aggressive, there weren't giving Chelsea a sniff and when they had the ball they looked like they could score.

BFG: Played just 37 mins all season, looked like he'd played all season. What a performance!

If they can replicate that next season, they'll be champions. Full stop.

    Well deserved victory and trophy.

Considering they played a man who hadn't played all season and someone who's a LB, it's an A+ performance.

Always said if Welbeck could finish more consistently he'd be a £50 million player.

If they can keep Sanchez and Ozil, add a more consistent goal scorer (except they have one called Lucas Perez and, for whatever reason, he didn't start much), they'll at least be in the top 3 next season, if not win it outright.

Funny that when they beat us, they were singing "we want you to stay!" Really? So he could batter you at Wembley? I don't get how Chelsea didn't turn up. And i dont get how we played liked this, but then shit for most of the season.

I do get how Spurs are cocky for finishing second, but then don't realise great clubs win shit. not boast about having a "world class" striker who has done shit for England, or feel happy at finishing second for the first time in 50-plus years. They're even cocky to Man U fans, they've won two trophies, when did Spurs last make a good impression in a European competition? When Hoddle was playing for them?

But there are some very significant years in Arsenal's history. 1971, 2004, and 2017. We won a decent trophy at the home of Tottenham Hotspur in each instance.

Everybody played well today, but Alexis is a beast. An all-time legend of Arsenal imho. Ozil had his best game for us ever, and Per was a rock. I didn't want him to play, but he did the business and did it well. Holding HAS to be in the Russia WC squad, or at the least in the qualfifiers or friendlies. He can be boss in the future.

And Wenger did the business. He still has to go, but IF he is stay he needs to work on changing his methods.

I think they just got caught out by a high energy start and then the goal state of 1-0 allowed Arsenal to counter them to death - should really have been 2 or 3 zip pretty fast

Arsenal was playing a very quick and muscular forward line in Alexis, Welstroz and Ozil not to mention two fast wingbacks which cancelled things out

Chelsea would prefer to play on the counter and the game showed how they are 1 dimensional in midfield.

Of course they have 2 guys in costa and hazard who can snatch a game away - just didn't happen for them this time.

its chelsea though. Their manager is no slouch either. They kind of resembled us, they were not mentally up for it. i don't care nor need to, but i wasn't expecting them to bottle it that badly.

The walk up to the Royal box is very much part of the FA cup tradition, I would be sad to see it go. However I admit it is not as good as at the old Wembley because it now takes too long the teams disappear from view for a time.

Game state matters as we have seen so often with Arsenal

When you get yourself down 1-0 and rely on countering its a problem.

The tunnel video has some really good interactions from the players with former teammates Tomas Rosicky and Sol Campbell. Pretty cool Arsenal invited them as guests.

Honestly, we've had this feelings before after the 2014 and 2015 when we played well late in the season and also won the FA Cup. It looked like we were just a bit off of contending for titles, but we know what happened.

After such a bad season, and beating the champions rather than Hull or Aston Villa, makes this victory so so so so much better.

There are still so many questions this summer. I have no idea what's going to happen with Wenger, our transfers target, or the contract situations of like half a dozen players, including our two best players.

For some reason, last night felt like an end of an era moment.

As much as I enjoyed the victory, i feel like our season reminded me of the time I got an A on the final quiz of my accounting class after getting a C and B- on the two tests (which had a heavier weighting on my overall grade) that preceded it.
