Is there any evidence whatsoever that it was encouraged by the party? Isn't it just as likely that all the big Democratic donors saw her coming off her SoS tenure with a 70 percent approval rating and determined she'd be an unstoppable juggernaut that they'd best get behind? And that potential opponents determined the same thing, leaving only opponents like Sanders and Chaffee who had nothing to lose by challenging her? It's conceivable that DWS, Obama et al conspired to "clear the field." But what I see is a whole lot of people stating as fact what is actually conjecture, to the point where it's the conventional wisdom despite the fact that it's not backed up by anything specific.
OK! NOW you're just being annoying I leave at page 365... I come back at page 397. WTF are you people doing? Writing out your shopping lists???
This plus... Hüsker Dü, Dinosaur Jr, Spacemen 3, Galaxie 500, Fugazi, My Bloody Valentine, The Stone Roses
Just catching up on the thread now but I knew you'd notice that And does anyone remember Hüsker Dü? Edit: (Almost) Beaten to the Punch - while I was slowwwwly typing
Actually we're doing an "ALL TIME GREATEST BANDS" ranking, from 1 to 15,000, organized by decade and genre.
Good stuff. Moving from Ghana to Da Bronx in the late 80s meant I had to learn and understand hip-hop
I'm assuming you are a bit younger than me(49). This is just a clip and paste of what I posted on my next post to someone else in this thread. When I grew up and my favorite bands were putting out a new album every year, I felt a connection with those bands. Some slowly grew away from my tastes, some grew with me, some bands slowly grew towards me, year after year. That didn't exist later in life when I hit the CD era. If I was a freshman AC/DC fan in high school in 1990, their next album would have been released in my sophomore year in college. There is too much change all around in five years and that's with AC/DC, a band that sounds the same almost all of the time. Those yearly releases MEANT a lot more to me than the 3-5 year break between albums that became acceptable in the 90s. "New Pat Travers record? Cool! I'm not even sick of his last album yet." That's the type of thing you'd say when it's a year between albums. The Scorpions released an album in '84, a live album in '85 and didn't release another until '88. By the time I heard the live three or four times, I heard Metallica and that changed the rest of my decade. "New Scorpions album? Geez, they used to be my favorite band but I haven't listened to them in a couple of years." That was me in 1988, four years between albums. From 17 to 21 years old, I changed a lot and so did they.
Heard of them while watching the class of 92. My buddy has a photo of him with the lead singer on his FB page.

Re- Turkey yesterday. There really has to be a swift response. You got US residents and citizens getting the crap beat out of them by a foreign security service for protesting on US soil. Important video thanks to @VOATurkish - DC police did all they could. US response must be swift, strong. No State Dept lingo. Strength. https://t.co/UVNXVnpI9X— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) May 17, 2017 So .... Russia had brought recording devices into the WH while US media was not allowed. Look, man. I don't want to get into a pissing contest over semantics. You accuse me of asking him what outsold Thriller, in an attempt to get him to explain his reasoning, as declaring or implying that Thriller is the best. I've already stated that opinion does not equate to fact. I know the difference between "favorite" and "best", do you?
This Sonic Youth video addresses two thrusts of this thread. #1 - the song ponders what would happen if J Mascis became president in some bizarre alternate universe. #2 - this video has lotsa great clips of Sonic Youth's influences and contemporaries of the 80s post-punk scene.
