Mina seems a little more polished but he is a tiny bit older so it makes sense that he would be

I like the technique on the ball (especially in tight spaces) a bit better from Sanchez but Mina is better at positioning.
Initially I liked Sanchez better but Mina has proven so much for Pekerman and for Palmeiras.

Two great potentials and I think both can be super stars wherever they go.

I like them both but Sanchez is really flourishing in top flight football. We have yet to see how Mina does in Europe. Not that I'm doubting him, I'm sure he'll do just fine.

Of course that both of them are great players but for me Sanchez is more complete then Mina. While Yerry is the old version of the CB, Sanchez is more technical for a CB, has good dribble and can aim from outside. He can also be used as a DM if you need to. But again, they both great players and our future along with Oscar Murillo.

I love Yerry, especially what he gives with his height. I was skeptical at first because he looks clumsy but Its just cause hes so damn tall the guy has very good technique. As for Sanchez , he has yet to prove himself on the NT level, but from what ive seen at Ajax hes also has good technique. But Yerry for me had shown an "it" factor so id have to go with him which is no knock on Sanchez its just that Sanchez is not NT tested yet

    This.

I've seen Yerry be the deciding factor in huge games for Santa Fe, Colombia, and Palmeiras with both defensive skills and offensive prowess. Sanchez has yet to become that kind of guy in his very young career.

Oscar is close to 30.... def not future of the NT. I think Murillo leaving Inter and he will be a contender again. Davison and Mina both need to gain a ton of weight.

    1. You do realize that future can be in one month. Future doesn't mean 10 years from now. You have two major tournaments in the upcoming two years amd Oscar will be a part of if he'll continue with his good form.

    2. Do you need another reminder on Yepes? What was his age in 2014 and how much he was meaningful to us?

Well, it least I didn't mean that Sanchez will be over Mina. Of course we cannot compare since Mina is a starter an Davinson barely played. My intention was that as a type of player I prefer Davinson. I think that in 2-3 years he'll be top five CB in the world. Btw, if Mina will move to Europe he also has the potential to be one. They are just two different types of players.

What I've seen of Mina I've really thought he's a special player. His height and set piece threat is a huge value in the long run and he's a very good defender as well as being great at distribution. I just haven't seen any weaknesses in Mina and he's performed really well at every level and difficult competition he's had a chance in. I'd rate him a bit higher, but Sanchez is younger and hasn't been given the chances in the NT, but is doing exceptionally well in Ajax, but its less sample size, Yerry has been at a higher level a little bit longer.

Its splitting hairs though, they're both great prospects and have everything you could ask for tool wise in a CB. Mina supposedly has a buy clause until 2018 for something like 9m euro's with Barca which I can't see them not taking.

Ypres was on the team for 10 years and rocking Europe forever. You can't compare him to Oscar Murillo.

James and Cuadrado are not the only Colombians in a European Final this season...

...Sanchez and Ajax have made the Europa League Final and will face Man U for the Trophy.

big props to Sanchez for being an integral member of Ajax this season. Man United will be struggling with a few key absences in the final...

    Hup Ajax!!!!!

I heard from Ajax fans that he held the defense by himself yesterday. In their forum they classify him as one of the best signing in history along with Suarez, Zlatan and Litmanen.

So does Nacional hold any part of a future transfer?

Yeah Sanchez might have been the best player on the field in that game, he was a beast at the back, he's a man child in challenges, super strong as well as efficient in his tackles.

Love this conversation. Pecho Maturana loves ITALIAN defending, and Mina, Sanchez, Zapata and Murillo are the future of Colombian defending squad. These are great defenders and with the exception of Zapata, they are old under 25. Mina and Sanchez are the future, but lets not forget about Balanta

Ruud Gullit basically compared his defensive qualities to Jaap Stam saying Ajax had not seen a player in defense with such quality since the Dutch CB was back there.

If Sanchez has a career that even remotely comes close to Stam I will be very happy.
He was a stalwart for Man U for many years and was a rock in the back for the Dutch '98 team that went all the way to the semis of the World Cup.

I wonder if the NT would consider a 3man backline of mina-sanchez-Zapata with arias/farid as wingbacks.

    Think Brazil's 2002 WC formation

    3-4-3 / 3-5-2

Would be nice.. the thing is that's a formation that really needs to be trained and I don't know if we have that time for that.. maybe after the qualifying games.
I'd like to see a 3-3-3-1 as Chile used to have under Bielsa

Just keep in mind. Brazil 2002 did not train much for a 3-5-2 prior to 2002 WC, granted they did have Ronaldo (who had a long road to recovery, akin to falcao today) Rivaldo (a top 10 player in the world) and a young Ronaldinho

That Brasil would have won the WC with every formation. I'm not against playing with three CB's just if we wanna have success with it at least against big teams then we'd need more time to adapt to it.

I think a back 3 should be something Colombia strongly considers. If you have so many very good CB's figuring out a way to get them on the field is a big plus. Could then use Cardona/Aguilar as CM and could even use cuadrado as a wingback if Arias can switch to LWB. Front 3 of James/Muriel/Falcao, that lineup would be pretty good and fit our strengths, could put in one of CDM's for games we need to defend more.

We already used the CBs in the last game in Barranquilla vs Bolivia but if Im not wrong with Carlitos Sanchez in the middle of Zapata and Mina (Jerry Mine)

Think Ajax has a chance against Man United especially with the lack of players that they'll have?

Ajax has been playing very well all season vs Man U who has been very inconsistent. Even with all ManU players on board, I see Ajax lifting this trophy.
