The defense is looking better organized these days, but now the offense is sputtering. Too many poor passes in midfield end attacks before they even get started. To solve that, the back line started hoofing balls downfield to Ramirez but the San Jose defenders simply stepped in front and headed it back down the pitch. Molino and Venegas are very similar in their playing styles so when both have a poor match, there is little offense. Danladi created a chance or two with his speed, but he also loses the ball sometimes too easily. I don't see any solution for the near future given what is on the bench. Hate that artificial turf at the Gopher stadium. Absolutely hate it.
Impressed that Heath brought on Danladi as soon as he did, which was still about 5-10 minutes too late. I don't want to get too harsh on Jome for his debut, but you can tell he needs more games . Maybe a loan? At the top, a second game where Christian receives very little service. Not sure on why Heath feels that he should invert Molino and Ibarra? Defense was good and Cronin still beasts, but we are rather aimless moving forward, like we can not move forward as a offense, or how to split a defense. We really need an upgrade on a CM/AM type player.
I say give Danladi the start next week. I really want to know what is up with the switch with Molino and Ibarra. The broadcast showed Ibarra out left and I got all giddy but then remembered it showed the same thing the week before. It just seems like a total waste for the team and both players in general by putting Ibarra on the right. The only reason I will settle with this is if Molino's preferred spot is out the left. I an dig this.
lol The primary one closes May 7th. The 2nd window opens July 10. It will be interesting to see if they even get a DP signing. In two months, I have gone form saying I wanted a DP CB, to a DP left winger, to a DP #8 or #10 I still think we still need upgrade or depth at those positions, but I am not sure what my priority would be? I also don't want to be knee jerk, just because I think Johan Venegas has been ineffective the last two games, or that what Ibson adds going forward is NOT head and shoulders above Warner. I do think Heath needs to challenge his players a bit better. However, our depth is not much to speak of. Molino, when healthy, will always start. Danladi added momentum when he came on, but did he add dimension to our attack?
There are a variety of positions we could use a DP honestly. Also, need to look at where we are wasting money. Demidov needs to be sold or played at CDM. Ibarra makes too much money to be as below average as he has played. As bad as our defense has been, I still lean towards not using a DP spot along the backline. My wish list would probably go something like - 1. Attacking center mid to pair alongside Cronin. 2. Attacking left midfielder to start over Ibarra/Schuller. 3. Striker. I would love it if we got Aron Johannsson somehow.
Listening to latest 55.1 podcast today, and they brought up a good point. United seem to be doing the soft launch until the stadium. If that is the case, there is a good chance they might not acquire a DP level player until next season. I get it if that is the case. In reality we need upgrades/depth at so many positions, that may be the best reason to NOT acquire a DP just yet.
Yeah the notion of trying to land some solid players for all the needed positions using TAM (and GAM?) would be a far smarter solution than looking at one player for one position. Find players that patch the holes or add the depth we need this year. Hopefully those acquisitions help to continue to improve the squad over the duration of this year and into the next. Then next Summer land a DP who is that one missing spark we need to secure a playoff spot (preferrably a spot that isn't the last one) and have the hype for the club really firing on all cylinders leading into the move to St. Paul. Just also wanna add, I think 55.1 is the bomb. The key weekly pieces of AlexScheif's (not gonna try and spell his last name. Ha!) "Thoughts", the podcast, and Jeff Reuters "Rewind That" are highly informative and totally worth checking out if you haven't yet.
MINNESOTA UNITED FC vs. SPORTING KANSAS CITY TCF Bank Stadium | Minneapolis, Minnesota 05.07.17 | MLS Week #10 | MLS Game #10 12:30 p.m. CT (FS1, MNUFC Radio on 1500 ESPN)
Had to give up the tickets this weekend, as I took the daughters up North. Luckily was able to catch all of the game via radio. Whew! I have mls live, but it is on blackout. I think I can watch it tomorrow.

Ibarra had a very good game he really worked the whole game. Danladi has lots of Speed and Skill he did very well.
So the match yesterday was by far the best performance that the loons have put out all season. The fluidity, creativity, and movement from the attacking four was fantastic. Mr. Kallman looks a man among boys right now. Ibson is extremely underrated Miguel looked fast again.... Christian is a fantastic finisher but the rest of his game might cost him a call up. Connor Casey 2.0 Abu is extremely raw and extremely talented. He was reacting and still did well, if he starts seeing the game sooner he will be fantastic. Kevin Molino is a fantastic player
I did watch the mls live condensed replay. Much improvement on the offensive side over the last two weeks. Danladi's pace is great at getting behind defenses. Though, I think he should have follow through on Christian's cross/pass into the box. He seemed much more direct than J. Venegas has been as well. They were also getting numbers in to the box. This is huge. And let's stop for a moment and reflect that Dom Dwyer had little to no service yesterday.
Though Heath generally stays with what is winning, I wonder if starting Warner against TFC might be a bit better. And just like SKC, TFC has a midweek game before Saturday. Let's hope that works to our benefit.
Can't deny he didn't have a good game. The problem with Ibarra is, will he be consistent? SKC had acres of space for him to roam on the left side. He isn't going to get that every game.
