Sun 30 April 2017 White Hart Lane USA TV: NBCSN 11:30am ET It’s a new era for us and the NLD, and not the rosiest one. Over the years, we’ve all grown used to clinching St. Tott’s Day in March or April, but last year we just squeaked it out on the last day of the season. Though we took solace in knocking Spurs out of 2nd place, we failed to win the league... at perhaps our best chance in years past and years to come. This year, while we sit 6th with a game in hand, our wildest dreams are the “Wenger Trophy”, which would mean 4th Place and qualifying for UCL for the 21st straight year. All that said, the last thing we should do for our remaining games is mope, and give up. We should play this NLD as if it were the FA Cup Final, which thankfully we’ll get to play as well, in a month. Team News: Ox is back in. Mustafi’s still out. And Kos has a 60% chance at playing. Anyway, with this probably the last ever meeting at the Lane, let’s give it a good send off! I think winning the league at White Hart Lane has to be on the short list for greatest days in Arsenal history.
So nice they did it twice. 0-0 draw would suit me just fine at this point; spoil their chance at winning the league. Let Chelsea have it.
Having both Koz and Mustafi out is a major bummer considering the calibre of Spurs' attack. Whoever is playing D-mid will need to play the game of their year/life to pull off a win, to say nothing of needing the attack to finish the chances given. Especially if we're to assume Spurs will net 1-2 as per their norm. I've no idea how to line up, and am still not sold on the long-term viability of the 3-in-the-back models. Not with this roster and manager, anyway. Hopefully the lads will take some enthusiasm knowing that they could make it a real s*** day for the opposition. Need a win, will settle for a draw, expecting less than that. Maybe, MAYBE, they sneak away with another 2-2 sharing of points.
NLD coming up and this thread has 6 posts and even after a return of form. Laughable. Honestly I'm shitting myself about this one. I don't think Spurs are as great as some think, but we aren't scoring easy and our defense is still shaky. Will take a 0-0 and run!
My biggest fear is our defense against their potent midfield & front line. If Kos is in, he's not gonna be 100%. If he's out, then I'm a little nervous about Monreal-Holding-Gabriel or alternatively Monreal-Holding-Gabriel-Bellerin. I just listened to tonight's BBC 5Live podcast and Troy Deeney was on. Perhaps he wants us to beat Spurs, because he may have just made some juicy motivational quotes for our dressing room walls. He said nobody fears Arsenal, they have a soft center, etc. He's not far wrong, but I could see it inspiring our lads tomorrow to bring it to Spurs.
Just shows how much apathy has set in. And I don't think Spurs are as great as some others do either but they are certainly better than we are this year. Honestly, I'd take many of their players over ours.
To quote AK47 from my hit single "Arsenal": "If you're rootin' for Tottenham then you must be insane Because we won the League twice down at Shite Hart Lane".......
We win 2-1, end Spurs title challenge. Give WHL aka our second home a proper send off. Lol, tbh I don't know. My best mate is a Spurs fan and will be attending this match. His first ever visit to WHL would love nothing more for his first Spurs match to be a loss at home to us. Please football gods.
As much as I have a little empathy for your friend attending his first and last match at WHL, I have to say and NFW! We ain't lying down and enabling his dream to come true
I dunno. I kinda feel the opposite. We have very little to lose. The league is gone.St. Tot's Day is gone. Fourth place is virtually gone. Play with freedom and intensity, and you never know…
Only 19 posts for the game at that lot? wow. I think we should play like this. http://lineupbuilder.com/?sk=ty825 Coq got sent off last season, but that was last season. Xhaka has been worse in red cards, and even he has cooled it somewhat lately. I do believe we can get a result, dependent on how well we defend, and our overall tactical discipline and mentality. Dembele is out for them, and it's pretty telling but then again they have other mids are of a similar nature (not Sissoko, but we'd smash them if Poch plays him.....) I think we can get a draw at the least. I don't see why we cannot win, but we have to be up for it mentally and tactically.
Arsenal XI: Cech, Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Xhaka, Gibbs, Ozil, Alexis, Giroud Kos is in so Looks like another Back-3. Ironically Spurs has gone back to a rarely used Back-4.
Hopefully copying our formation will get you a good result against Spurs. If anyone else quotes from "the hit song Arsenal" though, may you get what you deserve.
