Union's 2016 playoff appearance looks like an aberration after barren stretch http://www.espnfc.com/club/philadel...looks-like-an-aberration-after-barren-stretch
Woo hoo! Man that article really fired me up for the rest of the season. We're going to turn the corner I just know it!
No internal pressure on Jim http://www.espnfc.com/video/the-boot-room/203/video/3103753 We're going to suck forever...
Let's just hope it's this same type of vote of confidence https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...nieri-vote-confidence-backing-premier-league/ Let's be realistic....no GM/sporting director is ever going to say "yeah, he's on the hot seat. He needs to start winning or he's gone"
I'm always happy when Smallwood writes something: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports...ose_fan_base___John_Smallwood_MLS_soccer.html
It's interesting, I think our media heads are actually unaware of how important they really are. Which is kind of opposite to the rest of the world's sports journalism scene.
The team, ownership, and fans are getting roasted on Max & Herc this week. They basically said if there was pro/rel in MLS maybe that would finally light a fire under the fans, players, and ownership's asses but right now they feel like everyone associated with the club seems to be complacent and ok with how the season is going.
Yeah, we've been ok with everything and on board with the direction since the City Hall pep rally 1/2010
Saying fans are complacent is in no way congruent with what we see in stadium nor is it congruent with the sentiment here or on social media. Every time I see the Union post something on Twitter or facebook, there is a stream of angry replies.
Seeing as how frugal Sugarman is I bet he wouldn't mind us being relegated to NASL or USL. So that wouldn't solve much of anything.
Yeah Herc's been calling out Sugarman over the last couple of weeks saying he's the one constant in the string of 8 unsuccessful years. What they were saying about the fans is they're not doing enough. Some half-hearted boos, yeah but not much else. Yell at the players, have a public protest, do something was what they were saying. They felt like the fans and players didn't have much passion on Friday.
The fans not having passion in the stands is a direct reflection of the awful play on the field... this has been beat to death, but things are turning apathetic. I do agree the ones that are there could be "meaner" to the team though.
He'd save money on salary* but that would murder the franchise's resale value. *Well, the salary cash-call that the league puts out; every time I think I understand the way this league's rules work...
Smallwood hasn't been to Chester in more than a year, so I highly doubt that the occasional column from afar really moves the needle.
