Chelsea had a title winning squad with a hole at CB and in need of a fresh manager. We are no where close to that.
Which a) sounds strange considering the squad was coming off a season that everyone felt Arsenal could've/ should've won the league, and b) it's still allegedly one of the biggest clubs on the planet so if that's true then why are they "no where close to that?" At the moment I'm seriously staring at a future where they won't be the best club in North London for generations. From where they were 10 years ago that should be considered sacrilege, yet here we are.
i'm predicting an upset win today for FAM over BLOOD on Arsenal TV....they will get their own netflix show at this rate....
It's bizarre. Last year's team was the best in the league per advanced stats. And yet, from New Years Day on, Arsenal have played at a relegation clip. That's 17 points from 12 games in 2017, and looks even worse over the last 8 games. We haven't seen a meltdown like this in the Wenger era.
We felt we should have won more because of how bad everyone else was. We need to remember that we only put up 71 points. Being one of the biggest clubs on the planet is meaningless. What does that even mean? We have a lot of fans around the world, sure, but it's not like that is reflected in the commercial revenue we earn. Our total revenue is fairly high, but that is a product of massive TV deals, so it's not exactly a point of differentiation against our competitors. Players don't give up bigger paychecks to join us. Our popularity has nothing to do with helping us turn things around quickly.
I'm hoping we keep losing so he can get sacked or leaves. But it has to get worse until it starts getting better. Bellerin is shockingly bad. Mesut is invisible most of the time. Mustafi is starting look mediocre at best. This club is dying by the day.
Wenger refuses to tell us what is going on or take responsibility that his uncertainty has anything to do with Arsenal's form.
I truly don't think that anyone associated with this club should be allowed to continue to associate with it. Also, fcuk it, let Usmanov have a go running shit
What's going on is the midfield is a mess, and the back four isn't that good. A manager with a vision could come in and fix this, provided that: 1. He started early. 2. He had the money to buy two midfielders that fit. 3. We kept Alexis and Ozil. Otherwise, this is a complete mess because teams have worked out how to counter against us.
It also seems to me that all a team has to do is press us aggressively and we generally can't get around or through them. Today I noticed that a bunch.
Ya know, I haven't seen a full game in probably a month, and I really don't care. As of right now, I don't hate this team, I don't love this team, I just.... couldn't care less.
I feel bad for Wenger, but it's patently obvious that things need to change at this club. If for some reason Stan and the board are intent on having Arsene stay, they need to blow up the squad and bring in some new energy and talent. This group isn't working together. Obviously the players have ability, but as a unit they aren't good enough. That being said, I don't think Wenger should stay. He should just announce his retirement into a symbolic front office role, enjoy the farewell tour, and pass the reins to a successor after the season. It sucks to miss CL, but we haven't been contenders in CL recently anyway. I'm excited for a fresh start. Even if the big names like Ozil and Sanchez leave, we have some good pieces to work with. I'd like to keep Ox and Iwobi, and go out and get some fearless young players who are hungry to prove themselves. The nice thing about football is that new talents and stars are always emerging. You can always reload.
Each day these shenanigans carry on it becomes more and more apparent to me that the real problem is the board and their allegiance to Stan and their blindness to what's really happening here. In terms of problems at Arsenal, Wenger is only the tip of the iceberg . . .
For all that i agree in principle, can you really blame them for being loyal to the guy that owns 66.6% of the shares?
It's clear the personalities and politics are the trouble - not the ability to defend. Andros T was running rings around Arsenal! Monreal was overloaded constantly whilst Sanchez didn't help and Ninny never slid across. The defenders are not tight on guys in the D. Guys are miss controling and mishitting simple passes. These are all easy fixes - anyone competent can get the team to do much better on these issues. The trouble at the moment is a mix of some can't be bothered, and no one is following any coherent game plan. What was the plan to deal with the left back overload? Where was the adjustment after the lucky break on the offside goal? Nothing. Wenger changed nothing. On field nothing happened.
It's clear that the board doesn't have the political power to sack Wenger, despite the hints about change So long as Stan backs Wenger he is untouchable.
