Veltman looked like he picked up a knock as well

  2. Seems to be nothing serious.

Fer started as RB today with Swansea...Don't how how he did but they lost.

Bazoer starting again with Wolfsburg, it's good, he is playing around a lot of good players. This is a proof Germany and Italy give more chances to the dutch youngsters than England now.
    Clasie should have moved there.

    Strange!
Looks like he did not do so bad, most passes of Swansea (54/67), most recoveries (11), 3/4 on tackles and also 1 chance created. Looks like the most influential in his side..

Fer has been having a good season but he is no rightback.

That said Wijnaldum put in an incredible performance against City this weekend. MotM for me, again, in a big game. He just keeps improving and was even more adventurous this game having 5 dribbles and should have won a penalty in the first half after megging the defender. He was everywhere...his strength on the ball in unreal -- he shields it so well and always seems to pick out a good pass.

The EPL has been good for Wijnaldum. The level of his game has improved markedly.

Wijnaldum gave a big interview recently (huge in length). He talked about training like a mad man with Klopp etc & Klopp has genuinely helped many young players grow & be much better than how they were rated by everyone ! Another reason why I wanted Promes to go there.

On this video he reminds me of Afellay, the way he is easily penetrating sometimes like at 2:20, every team needs to have a midfielder that can do that. He works harder than Afellay and get more interceptions, but I'm still doubting about two aspects of his game : long passing and shots. I rarely see Wijnaldum giving long cross balls, Afellay does it. And he must take more shots too.

^^Affellay made too many runs wit his head down and couldn't see the field.

Afellay likes the ball at his feet and wijnaldum doesn't.

Wijnaldum with a long, defense-splitting pass today leading to Liverpool's winning goal. Nice field vision (something that you don't typically associate him with). Let's hope this is not a one-time wonder but becomes part of his routine.

Any one thinks wolfswinkel is in form to get a call up. I mean luuk de Jong did get the call up when he returned to eredivisie after struggling abroad. I think wolfswinkel is a upgrade of Luuk and has had a good debut season. Maybe another option upfront.

Robben with a wonderful goal vs Dortmund & was Whoscored's MOM. Fantastic play all game along & absolutely owned Schmelzer !

Bayern vs Madrid come up in CHL !

  15. Clasie hammered the ball in the back of the goal. The bbc commentators were in awe.

I'm really happy for Clasie. Pretty much the only footballer of his generation.

No Luuk is much better than him, at least he is a good pivote, Wolfswinkel is totally useless

I m pretty sure Clasie would have been a good starter in Germany or Italy where players such as Bazoer and Hoedt were immediately starters...

He made a bad choice, those PL clubs give priority to athletics and strong tackling midfielders such as Whelan rather than good footballers with a small frame like Clasie.

The average british fan gets excited and starts yelling when he sees tackles , they re not looking for refined good football.

looking at the current strength and weakness of players and the form they are in I would opt for.

    Depay - Robben

    van Ginkel

van Ginkel as false striker who can marshall in and out of the middle and into the box when needed. He is a tall lad and is quiet good with his head too. we'll Robben likes to cut in field so he won't be needed much there but still should there be a need for Aerial presence in the box , both Depay and Van Ginkel both can provide sufficient means there.

then comes the engine. Strootman and Ake. Strootman again to move back and forward while Ake to provide cover to the backs. then there is wijnaldum on the left flank and toornstra on the right to provide more creativity from the side.

Van Dijk as the enforce at the back flanked by CB/ LB type player who can provide cover for wijnaldum and Toornstra when they overlap forward.

    hence 3-4-3

    Depay- Van Ginkel- Robben

    wijnaldum- Ake- Strootman- Toornstra

    Riedewald-Van Dijk- karsdorp

    Zoet.

if Robben is injured. Lens/ Promes

looking at bothe this season, you still think Wolfswinkel is useless. But I think it's time to move on from these type of strikers who are dependent on servicing only. Lens , Promes and even Depay vs Italy showed he can decisive from there.

I think Janssen is the best option at the moment without a doubt. What I would like though is to remove a midfielder and add Depay as 9,5 behind Janssen.

Locadia got a good fighting spirit but he is so limited technically, shouldnt be NT material.

Van Ginkel got fat and is even slower than before, Ramselaar is the best PSV dutch player this year but Cocu makes stupid choices.

Probably true but his handling speed is just too slow at a higher level than the Eredivisie. I can't see him moving on to a top tier club.

At the moment I think something like this should be tried :

    ----------------------------Strootman (Fer)-----------------------Wijnaldum (Klaassen)-----------------------

    ---Robben( Promes)-----------------------------------------------------------------------Promes (Elia)-------

    --------------------------------------------------Depay (Toornstra)---------------------------------------------

    ---------------------------------------------------Janssen ( ?)------------------------------------------------------

It's so sad because I don't like Strootman nor Wijnaldum nor Klaassen but the midfield options are so limited at the moment that they should necessarily be considered regarding their clubs performances.
If Clasie starts to perform better with his club then I'd call him without any doubt. I keep an eye on Bazoer and Vilhena too.

Toornstra should be given a serious shot. I'm always reserved regarding eredivisie players and their real level against good oppositions, but he looks like an effective player. He has scored more goals than Klaassen this season and he is a better footballer I think so there's no reason he shouldn't be given a chance. He is a good finisher and got a decent long shot, I can see him being dangerous inside and around the box so the 9,5 position would suit him.

I'm against giving calls to non material NT players just for the sake of having a large group of players.
Dost and Luuk have been given several chances and they never performed so I'd rather play without a real striker than with any of them.
Berghuis, Narsingh, Locadia,...are not bad players but I don't like seeing their names when the squads are announced, it feels like an automatical loss of quality.

Bas Dost is really having a fine season at Sporting. He is a classic target man as long as he gets halfway decent service is a good chance he's going to score only problem with him is that he needs good players around him

    I.e. Gelson Martins, De Bruyne

But he has 27 goals in 25 games something like that. No player has scored that much for the club since the 1990s

    Impressive numbers regardless of league
