http://www.socceramerica.com/articl...sign-aja-to-long-term-deal.html?edition=16579 Orlando City SC has shored up a back line that leaked a lot of goals last season by retaining the rights to defender José Aja, who has signed a four-year contract after playing 10 MLS games during the 2016 season on loan.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...h-defender-gregory-sertic-20161220-story.html I guess Gregory Sertic was the "big name" european signing. Should someone start a 2017 thread?
http://www.orlandocitysc.com/post/2...ire-giles-barnes-vancouver-exchange-brek-shea With Brek out and Barnes in, that will certainly shake up our starting 11. What do you guys think of this:
No way Barnes is starting, especially this week. Starting lineup stays the same, Barnes comes off the bench and can play any of several positions. And we won't be playing much diamond, Noce and Johnson will be deep lying with MPG on the right and Kaka on the left higher up the field than those two. Almost a 4-2-2-2, with Johnson going forward more than Noce.
I agree no changes will be made this week. I guess I was looking at a more long term formation than anything. http://startingeleven.co.uk/ its pretty easy to create your own formation. I think you mean Rivas since we will now be playing a 4-4-2. No one is talking Larin's job.
I think Kreis' love of veterans could mean Larin could lose his job, but much more likely Rivas would be the forward to go to the bench. That said, I think it is more of a five man rotation for the four attacking spots, 2AM and 2Fowards. I figure Kaka for 25 games and MPG not many more than that. Larin will miss a few for NT duty. And Kreis isn't afraid to rotate guys out for rest. All five of them could start 25+ games if Kaka can stay healthy enough.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...orlando-city-scott-sutter-20170303-story.html We signed Swiss RB Scott Sutter. I have a feeling this means the club is ready to move on from Ramos or Alston or both. Ramos moved to disabled list to make room temporarily. We will likely waive Mateos today. There might also be some other moves in the works today as its the last day to make changes.
I don't think this says much about Ramos other than they would like more experience on the First Team. Could mean the end of Alston, but he doesn't cost much. With the ability of a few other guys to play RB, we could possible flip Alston at some point this season to fill depth in the event of injuries at another position.
Neither cost much, but Ramos also takes up an INT sport, as does the new guy. Plus this team has shown a tendency to move on from "injury guys."
Do we know if Sutter is in Orlando and training with the team yet? IF so, this is my starting lineup for philly:
Posting this to hopefully move 2017 roster messages here for a new thread. EDIT: Still got it. EDIT 2: Sorry, I didn't see the other 2017 roster thread when I started this shindig.
http://www.orlandocitysc.com/post/2...-signs-defender-donny-toia-contract-extension Just signed Toia to a 3 year contract. Solid move by the club.
Aja out 3 to 6 weeks hamstring according to Tim Allen retweet. I think we need some of the wounded back. Tommy better be ready.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...do-city-acquires-luis-gil-20170405-story.html We signed Luis Gil. I dont really know enough about him to like or dislike this deal.
Luis Gil was decent a few years back in Real Salt Lake. Heard he hasn't been as good down in Mexico, but that is just rumor. He does have history with Jason Kreis, and he should fit into Orlando style of play. But, no way of telling if he'll help us, or when.
We really need an offensive minded mid fielder. So far Barnes has been somewhat of a let down. I was hoping he could be the offensive spark once Molino left, but that hasnt been the case. Gil hasnt shown me anything. Really, Rivas and Kaka have been the only offensive players to create chances. I really wish there was a way to get Winter back.
There is really only one "offensive minded" midfield spot in the diamond formation. Kaka, MPG, Barnes, and maybe Gil will fill the spot. Not exactly sure how we fit another. Watching Barnes try to fill the second forward slot the past few games makes me think we really, really, need another capable forward that can play Rivas spot also.
MPG tries very hard, the problem has been he hasnt produced any results. Other than that one cross to Larin, Barnes hasnt produced either. Its still very early, but I havent see anything from Gill that inspires me. I love Johnsons work rate, but he hasnt produced much either. Kaka and Rivas are the only ones capable of producing chances. I would kill get get Winter back.
Johnson has been very important on the field, not a huge offensive guy but he's been solid. MPG and Barnes work hard, but aren't the difference makers their salaries suggest. Barnes isn't too terrible at that salary since we traded an expensive Shea for him. But it kind of boggles my mind we sent a young and cheap Ceren for the expensive and old MPG.
https://www.fourfourtwo.com/us/feat...r-value-mls-orlando-city-analysis-complicated Larin's future at OCSC is definitely uncertain.
This was done to clear up some cap space as well as an international spot for Quintero signing that is rumored for Saturday.
As of today, @ChicagoFire are the front runners for Juan Quintero if he signs in @MLS. What a turnaround 2017 has been for the 🔥🔥. #MLS— Taylor Twellman (@TaylorTwellman) July 8, 2017
