1st caution, speaking truth to power ("HE DOVE!"). 2nd caution, Guzman AVOIDED anagram for I A DOVED. On the first he may have just said Bald aMEro's combover has reached ridiculous proportions. I mean, he can't even recognize that his hair is flopping.
It's the Galaxy PR team that might get disciplined instead: http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2017/03/14/la-galaxy-portland-timbers-video-chara-guzman

Are you frickin kidding me??! Great, humorous video, totally non-offensive, admittedly presenting Galaxy homer version of events. Embarrassing to the ref because it shows how bad his calls were but so what? Best response by MLS is to put the head of refereeing on the hot seat for continuing to employ Baldy. But punishing or threatening to punish for this video? Who's running things, the Gestapo?
As much as I enjoyed the video, I can see the league's position. While the intention may have been humour, setting a precedent for this opens the door for clubs to potentially abuse the medium and to take it to its most damaging possibility, impact future refereeing performances. For example, the decision to eject JVD after clear flopping has now gone viral. If the referee has a thin enough skin to feel like he's being victimized by this meme, it might impact his decisions next time he plays us. He might resent it, adding involuntary bias against us. He might be concerned about being put through it again, perhaps inadvertently creating an involuntary bias towards us. It might simply be a stressor by which he's rattled by the thought of making mistakes, which puts him off his game in general. Now I'd be surprised if this particular video had that kind of impact but like I said, letting it go now could open the door for more cynical, calculated efforts that may be harder to sanction as a result.
Portland’s David Guzmán & Diego Chará avoid suspensions from MLS Disciplinary Committee for incidents in LA game https://t.co/f8799nRvcd— Subscribe to GrantWahl.com (@GrantWahl) March 15, 2017 Not shocking
Well, the Committee has spoken and frankly I am more than a little upset about what appears to be a complete lack of parity in the treatment of the dives by Romney vs Chara in terms of its impact on the Galaxy and Portland. As far as I can tell Portland did not get punished at all for Chara's dive while the Galaxy lost Romney for one game at a minimum. Did Chara even get the equivalent of a post-game yellow card for his simulation? The fact that the committee can't remove yellows and needs to be unanimous both need to be changed as well.
Their argument is ridiculously dumb. I've never read a dumber attempt at trying to sound smart and logical. I'm an English professor btw.
Seriously, is anyone on this board surprised? Of course neither flopper was suspended. They don't play for Galaxy.
I'd be curious with a neutral's perspective. I'm biased, but it's hard to see how Romney's was and Guzman's wasn't.
So MLS "disciplines" the social media team for a meme, but the Disciplinary Committee ignored two blatant dives. Do I have that right?
Here's a theory: LAG media group embarrass MLS ref. DiscCom feels compelled to protect said ref - "for the good of the league."
Irreconcilable differences: The Don loves parity above all else. LAG doesn't fit that mold so needs to be cut down to the size of the other Lilliputians.
It's hard to see because if Romney's was then Guzman's blatantly was. But when blindness is willful, there's a full will to being blind.
