if you can only put fans in 60% of your seats a cute meme is one way to get attention. We have video guys, too. Stay tuned...— Portland Timbers (@TimbersFC) March 13, 2017 Rap battle! err or meme battle?
That is a punishment, for some other team's fans. It was great on support local soccer night that they brought in a guy who made your local volunteer referee look that much better. Please don't yell at the volunteers, or even the club referees, at least they aren't this bad. BTW, Chara for a red on the Disco ignore list too. That's the forgivable one at game speed, but you don't put the foot out like that on a tackle. Van Damme's second, is a foul with no contact. It had to be tactical in nature to get yellow, but how do you then reason that pulling out of the challenge was meant to stop said attack? Fair enough the player hurts himself kicking the ground to embellish, rolling his ankle and faceplanting. Then the disgraceful part begins. The rookie referee then lets the guy come back on the field and fall down. That is either time wasting or embellishment, let's crack down on that. If it wasn't embellishment the medical staff should be held responsible.
Do you mean the AR? Toledo has been around for years. I thought the center ref (Toledo) had to wave a guy back on.
i think it was mentioned during the broadcast that if their is a car on the play the injured player doesn't have to go out
I'm interested in people's thoughts on JVD's ability as a captain. Dude has heart and passion, without a question. And maybe this is an knee-jerk reaction to Sunday but, in my eyes, he HAS. TO. BE. BETTER. Chara is up there with the best, sneaky-dirty players in the league. Dude knows how to get under a player's skin and look innocent in the ref's eyes. JVD should know and recognize this. The captaincy comes with a huge responsibility and having heart and passion isn't enough. Being smart in tough decisions is a requirement. Thoughts?
Sometimes you take one for the team? For the greater good? I don't have a problem with him being fired up. I mean who else is there? I would have said AJ, but....Jack McBean? He is the longest tenured senior teamer now.
Assuming we're still on potential captains, I agree my top choice would've been AJ. But with current players, I'd throw out two names: GdS and Lletget. They aren't the most tenured, but I believe the added responsibility may help them step up even more. More so for GdS. The armband may put that added pressure on GdS to realize that this is HIS team and as he goes, so does the team.
Highlight Time Folks I wrote this on Facebook and it warrants being here as well Van Damme is a passionate guy, but I am afraid he is going to get a lot of cards because of it. Other than that this game shows why defensive depth has always been so important for the team. We let AJ go in the name of money I would have kept him and let guys like Garcia walk. That or traded him for two lesser fullbacks that are at least better than a Garcia. Cole and Rogers are way too injury prone to be considered long-term solutions when dudes like AJ have been our rock. Once we get guy's back from injury and gel a bit more, we will be a much better team. We are certainly much better than we look. Other than a final DP we need to seriously find future starter fullbacks because we will remain defensively suspect until then. PS It shows our class that we held them to one goal while being down a man.
It sucks we don't have AJ anymore. I respectfully disagree with you on Garcia. I don't think Garcia is all that bad. He's a "keep possession" kind of player. And he works hard and has some speed. Qualities I love in a player.
Fine with him as captain. But that has to be a one and done incident. Was plain stupid. Also, ESPN has us 17th in power rankings. BLEGH.
Toledo's report. Can anyone make out what he initially wrote on the second caution? Seems to me to say something "touch" and then maybe he changed his story when he realized he'd been conned.
Telemundo saying two to three weeks for Giovani dos Santos. https://t.co/xeHlwxxlak— Jeff Kassouf (@JeffKassouf) March 14, 2017
There was no car on the play. Only David Beckham has ever been allowed to bring his vehicle that close.
